Well good Thursday mornin’, my lil nuggets, my dawn‑risin’, day‑grabbin’, excellence‑choosin’ crew.
I swear when my feet hit the floor this mornin’ I felt that little spark—that crispy kinda spark—that says, “Alright world… go on and brace yourself.
”Some folks wake up and choose peace.
But not us. Oh no, Rooster Nation wakes up and chooses excellence with a heaping side of shenanigans.
We crisp up the day like a fresh‑fried potato, dodge the drama like it’s a June bug hittin’ a porch light, and remind every single soul who underestimated us that they picked the wrong nugget to play with.
Be bold.
Be crispy.
Be delightfully terrible at bein’ overlooked.
Grab this day by the collar and make it fear you just a little.

Now let’s talk about what’s struttin’ outta the kitchen today, because baby… it’s a plate‑lickin’ kinda Thursday.
🍽️ What’s Cookin’ at The Rooster
-Pot roast — fall‑apart tender, slow‑cooked like Grandma used to whisper prayers over
-Beef stroganoff — creamy, hearty, and downright comforting
With:
Potatoes & carrots from the roast
Fried potatoes (crispy enough to make you testify)
Deviled eggs
White beans
Corn on the cob

Come on down, grab a plate, grab a laugh, grab a moment to breathe.
We’re here, we’re smilin’, and we’re ready to feed your belly and your spirit.

🐓 Good Hump Day Morning, Rooster Nation
Lord have mercy… middle of the week done snuck up on us again. We’re all just tryin’ to climb that little ol’ hill so we can coast on down toward the weekend. But today? Today’s got a heaviness to it. A hush. A lump‑in‑your‑throat kind of feeling.
Because yesterday… we lost Dolly Parton.
And honey, that ain’t just losing a singer — that’s losing a piece of the South’s heartbeat.🌼 A Legend Gone Home
From that coat of many colors she wore with more pride than any rhinestone gown…
To clockin’ in 9 to 5 with every working woman who ever tried to stretch a dollar…
To beggin’ Jolene not to take her man…Dolly wasn’t just music — she was memory. She was porch sittin’, mama’s radio hummin’, road trips to the Smokies, and that first time you saw Dollywood’s lights twinklin’ through the trees.
And Lord knows half of us have sat elbow‑to‑elbow at Dixie Stampede, hollerin’ for the North or the South while eatin’ a whole rotisserie chicken with our bare hands.
But maybe the greatest thing she ever gave us was her Imagination Library — books in tiny hands, hope in tiny hearts. She didn’t just sing to us… she raised us.
And I swear, if you close your eyes, you can almost hear the reunion she’s havin’ right now — her mama, her daddy, Carl, Porter Wagoner, all of ’em waitin’ at the gates. What a homecoming.
Thank you, Dolly. For the sparkle, the sass, the kindness, and the courage. You shaped country music, but you also shaped us. You will will be greatly missed by all!!!!
🍽️ Now Let’s Talk About Today’s Spread
Because even on the heavy days, The Rooster keeps folks fed and comforted.
Hamburger steak
Fried chicken
Chicken casserole
Sides:
Green beans
Fried okra
Cabbage
Mashed potatoes
Come sit a spell with us. Let the kitchen noise, the clatter of plates, and the smell of fried okra wrap around you like a warm quilt. Let your belly get full and your heart get a little lighter.

Well look at ole Tuesday rollin’ in here, struttin’ across the yard like it owns the place.
We were up before the sun — lights on, aprons tied, pots rattlin’, and that first round of catering orders hittin’ us before we even had time to say “Lord, help us today.”
And it don’t look to be slowin’ down one bit, which is just fine by us. Busy means blessed, and The Rooster has been blessed beyond measure.
Sometimes I stand in the middle of that kitchen, flour on my shirt, steam foggin’ up my glasses, and I think about how y’all took one person’s little ol’ dream and turned it into somethin’ real. Somethin’ alive. Somethin’ that matters.
The older folks get, the more they talk about regrets — the “should’ve done this,” “should’ve tried that,” “should’ve chased that dream.” But let me tell you right now… this is one thing I will never regret. Not a single day of it.
Life ain’t about sittin’ still and wonderin’ what could’ve been. Life is about steppin’ out, takin’ the chance, buildin’ the thing, livin’ the dream, and movin’ on to the next one when the good Lord says it’s time.
Don’t be 100 years old layin’ there thinkin’, “I should’ve opened that business… bought that house… moved to my happy place.”
Baby, you only get one life — live it the way you want.

Now… let’s talk about what’s cookin’.
🍽️ Today’s Menu at The Rooster
Chicken and dumplings or salmon patties
Fried squash
Black‑eyed peas
Kraut and wiennies
Mac and cheese
Carrots
Come hang out with us today.
Bring your day‑dreamin’ stories, your “one day I’m gonna…” plans, your hopes, your what‑ifs, your maybe‑somedays.
We’ll feed you, laugh with you, and cheer you on — because dreams don’t grow unless you talk about ’em.

Good Monday mornin’, Rooster Nation.
Lawd have mercy, I hope y’all had yourselves a fabulous weekend. I know I sure tried to. We spent part of it pickin’ up limbs the storm decided to scatter all over creation, and the rest runnin’ to birthday parties, laughin’, eatin’, and tryin’ our best to slow life down just a lil bit.
Seems like every time I blink, another week’s gone by and I’m standin’ here wonderin’ how in the world it’s already Monday again.
But I’ll tell you somethin’… this time of year gets me feelin’ some kinda way.
The sun starts takin’ its sweet time comin’ up, like it’s stretchin’ and yawning right along with me. There’s that lil breeze in the mornin’ that brushes across your arms and makes you think, “Well now… fall ain’t too far off.” And that’s when my heart starts doin’ a lil flutter, because fall is my season. My soul just settles right down into it.I start gettin’ excited to pull out the totes, dust off the scarecrows, and start fussin’ with myself about whether it’s too early to decorate. (It ain’t. It’s never too early.)
Fall brings on a whole different set of outdoor adventures — the kind that make small towns like ours feel alive.College football’s about to kick off — I’m pretty sure it’s this Saturday — and you can already feel folks gettin’ rowdy about their teams. Then we’ve got fall festivals, pumpkin patches, hayrides, bonfires, hoodies, and all that good stuff that makes you wanna stay outside ‘til the stars come out.

And listen… whatever you choose to do this season, support your local peeps.
Our restaurants, our mom‑and‑pop shops, our small businesses — we spend a whole lotta time workin’, cookin’, showin’ up, and donatin’ to the very events y’all enjoy. It means the world when you support us right back.
🍽️ Now let’s get to what everybody’s really waitin’ on… the menu.

Meatloaf
Fried Pork Chops

With:
Pintos
Collards
Mashed Taters
Cream Corn

That right there is a plate that’ll warm your belly, settle your spirit, and make you feel like somebody’s grandma just hugged you from the inside out. Y’all come on, get your bellies full, and enjoy this beautiful Monday with us at The Rooster.

Come see us today for your Sunday dinner and get your bellies full! We are ready to see your smiling faces.

Well well Frrriiiiday done come easin’ on in here after that wild ol’ storm last night, y’all. I swear somebody up in the heavens must’ve decided to put on a full‑blown concert with a light show big enough to make Nashville jealous. That lightning was struttin’ across the sky like it owned the place, and that thunder… Lord have mercy… it just kept rollin’ in one wave after another.Power blinkin’, lights flickerin’, house hummin’ like it was tryin’ to keep up —
but somehow storms like that have always been soothing to me. I could curl up in a hammock on the porch, rain hittin’ the tin roof, wind blowin’ just enough to rock me, and sleep like a baby with the whole world rumblin’ around me.
Growin’ up in the country, you learned to watch a storm before you ever felt it. Just like sittin’ on the beach and seein’ one roll in from way out yonder — you could see that dark curtain movin’ slow across the fields. Sometimes it’d look like it was comin’ straight for the house, but nope… Mama or Daddy would peek out the door and say, “Well, Mr. Hood’s gettin’ rain today,” or “Looks like Nellie and Randy are gettin’ a good lil’ shower.”
And we’d sit there, dry as a bone, watchin’ the rain fall everywhere but on us.
Mercy… what I wouldn’t give to go back to those days. Days you can’t buy, can’t sell, can’t recreate. Days that live in your bones and come back to you every time thunder rolls.

🍤🐟 Now let’s talk about this FRIED FRIDAY,
y’all It’s fried Friday, and we ain’t playin’ around.
Fried catfish fillets
or
Shrimp
Sides:
Okra
Green tomatoes
Fries
Onion rings
Slaw
Baked beans
And listen here — we’ve also got a couple pans of dressing and a couple turkeys we’re puttin’ on the bar today.

📞 One more thing…We’ve been gettin’ a whole lotta big to‑go orders lately, and I ain’t afraid to admit it — I messed up a big one yesterday. Not on purpose, not from lack of tryin’, just one of those human moments we all have.
So if y’all are callin’ in those big orders in the mornings, please call before we open. That gives us time to make ’em right, double‑check ’em, and make sure everything is just how you want it.We love feedin’ y’all — we just wanna do it right.
Come on out and enjoy this Friday, shake off that storm, and let us feed ya good.

🌾 Midweek at The Rooster
It’s the middle of the week, and The Rooster is already hummin’ like a beehive somebody bumped too hard. Doors swung open before half the town even found their shoes, girls back here flappin’ around, pans hittin’ the stove, and that familiar smell of grease and determination floatin’ through the air.
This summer heat? Lord have mercy, it’s been sittin’ on us like a wet quilt. We ain’t had much chance to enjoy the season except those quiet porch nights — the kind where the world finally hushes and you can hear your own thoughts settle.
And you know what’s funny? We live close enough to hear Decatur High that we can hear the band, and the announcers hollerin’ at ballgames, and all that live music driftin’ up from downtown on 2nd. So most nights, we just sit out there on the porch, lettin’ the city sing to us like a radio we didn’t have to turn on.
But you know what I enjoy the most?
🌟 Lightnin’ Bugs — My Childhood in Tiny FlickersLightnin’ bugs — some folks call ’em fireflies — but to me they’ll always be those tiny lanterns floatin’ around in the dusk like God sprinkled glitter across the yard.
When I was a kid, they were everywhere. You could sit outside for hours, barefoot in the grass, watchin’ them blink on and off like they were tellin’ secrets.
There ain’t near as many now — maybe it’s the city life, maybe it’s just the times changin’ — but every time I see one, it pulls me straight back to childhood.
Back to gravel driveways, back‑porch sittin’, and summer nights that felt like they lasted forever. Those little beetles bring me comfort in a way I can’t quite explain — like a soft reminder that some pieces of the past still glow if you look for ’em.
🍽️ Now let’s talk about what’s on the bar today
Hamburger Steak
Fried Chicken
Chicken Casserole
With:
Mashed Potatoes
Cabbage
Green Beans
Okra
And don’t forget — we’ve got Lasagne all week long for Restaurant Week. Folks have been lovin’ it, and we’re keepin’ it rollin’ till Friday.

🦃 Thanksgiving Thursday Prep
Y’all have been callin’, askin’, wonderin’, double‑checkin’ — and yes, you’re right:

08/17/2026

Lawd have mercy… look what the cat drug in this mornin’. Monday struttin’ around like it owns the place, grinnin’ big, actin’ like we’re all just thrilled to see it again. I stepped out on that gravel this mornin’ and the air had that sticky‑sweet August feel, like the whole world done woke up slow and needed an extra minute to get its britches on straight.

And y’all… don’t forget now — it’s Restaurant Week around these parts. There’s a whole mess of local spots out there that could use a little love, a little foot traffic, a little “how y’all doin’” from folks who care. So pick yourself up one of them passport books and get to eatin’, stampin’, wanderin’, supportin’, and braggin’. It’s good for the belly and even better for the community.
Our special this week is lasagna with side salad and garlic toast.

🍗 Now let me tell y’all what’s cookin’ at The Rooster today…We got baked chicken today — but only while it lasts, sugar. You know how fast that pan disappears when folks get wind of it.

And of course, we got our normal Monday lineup, the kind that makes you close your eyes and hum a little:
Meatloaf
Fried Pork Chops
With sides that taste like somebody’s grandma been whisperin’ over the stove:
Mashed Potatoes
Cream Corn
Pintos
Collard Greens

Every bit of it cooked slow, steady, and with that Southern kind of love that don’t rush for nobody.
