We’re so proud to share that The Dayton Foundation has chosen the House of Bread to host a highly skilled and talented Del Mar Encore Fellow on our leadership team starting this fall.

This Fellow will work with our staff, our guests, and many community organizations to lead a strategic, community-wide initiative to increase sustainable local options for bathing and laundry for our unsheltered homeless population.

Del Mar Fellows are retired professionals or older adults with a record of career and community service. If that’s you and you have a passion for and experience working in such areas as alleviating homelessness and poverty and building community, this one-year position might be for you. Twice a year we ask our guests how well we’re serving them, as part of our Human Services Levy-funded relationship with Montgomery County, Ohio, for which we’re very grateful. We’re humbled to report that they gave us good marks again in the most recent survey:

🍲 92% percent say our lunch program helps prevent hunger for them.
🫂 96% say they feel supported.

We won’t be fully satisfied until those numbers reach 💯%, but we’re pleased with these results.

Alesia started volunteering with us about 7 months ago and comes a couple of times a week! (Thank you, Alesia.🩵) Yesterday, she was dishing up some amazing-looking desserts 🧁.

Thank you, Trotwood-Madison High School, for the help of some of your high school 🏈football players.

They were amazing volunteers today in the kitchen prepping and serving lunch 🥙, and then helping us create more space in our freezers and passing a whole lotta turkeys 🦃from one freezer to another.
