“Oh, I could be a caterer. I love to cook!”
Respectfully… cooking is probably the easiest part. 😂
I don’t think people realize what actually goes into catering an event.
It’s weeks of planning.
Creating menus.
Figuring out logistics.
Calculating quantities.
Ordering food.
Shopping.
Prepping.
Cooking.
Packing.
Loading.
Transporting.
Setting up.
Serving.
Cleaning up.
And somewhere in the middle of all of that, you’re constantly doing the math in your head:
Do I have enough food?
Did I account for everything?
Is everything going to be hot at the same time?
Did I forget something?
What happens if 20 extra people show up?
Because when you’re the caterer, the entire meal rests on your shoulders.
I’ve worked in the food industry pretty much my entire life, and it is by far one of the most mentally AND physically taxing jobs I’ve ever done.
You’re on your feet for hours. You’re lifting heavy pans and boxes. You’re working against the clock. You’re solving problems nobody else even knows happened—all while making sure the final product looks effortless.
And then someone says, “You make it look so easy!”
That’s the goal. ❤️
When you hire a caterer, you’re not just paying someone to cook your food.
You’re paying for the planning, the experience, the organization, the problem-solving, the labor, and the ability to feed a room full of people without you having to worry about a single plate.
And somehow… after all these years, I still love it. ❤️
The adrenaline rush is what keeps me going.
