Dear Davis Food Co-op, you welcomed us with open arms 15 years ago. Providing us with warm and comfortable home during our stay. Saying goodbye was not easy for us. You taught us how to run a community based business and how to support local. We came here with so much hope and you provided us with many incredible things.
We will always remember our Co-op with warm thoughts and great memories. It was a bitter sweet day. We appreciate all of our friends and customers, current and former coworkers. You all are ABSOLUTELY THE BEST!! We won't be here without you!❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏

We both worked as a franchise owner and co-owner of the Mermaid Sushi and one thing we can proudly say is that the Davis Food Co-op is the best groceries store and Mermaid Sushi has the best sushi.

Today is a special and bittersweet day at the Co-op. After 15 years with Sithu and Zin working the Mermaid Sushi counter at the Co-op, they are moving on to start their own business in downtown Davis (opening date TBD). ⁠⁠
Mermaid Sushi will live on at the Co-op with its new Sushi Chef, Lin (pictured here on the right). You may have seen him behind the counter with Sithu and Zin this past week learning the Davis Food Co-op set up. ⁠⁠
We wish Sithu and Zin the absolute best in their new ventures, and welcome you to stop by Mermaid Sushi to meet Lin and welcome him to the community!⁠⁠⁠

If you are buying sushi from the grocery stores please carry it with love. Because most of the sushi bar inside the grocery stores are owned by the independent contractors who are working very hard with limited supplies.
Please make the final decisions before you leave the sushi bar and please do not leave sushi package in a different place when you changed your mind.
Supply change is a major issue so please help us not to lose our products.

We always try our best to provide you with THE BEST and most sustainable seafood regardless of supply shortage and long hours operation. Sometimes we will drive for about 5 hours to get the seafood we need for our small shop. Some days we are not healthy 100% but we commit over 100%. We will never compromise our quality because we are a To-go Sushi.

We will do anything we could for our BEST CUSTOMERS!
