Hey Vinny’s fans, Kayla here! As many of you know (or maybe don’t), I’ve been behind this page since the very first day we opened. I still remember driving home after setting up the café, getting a crash course from my mom, Becky, on how to be a waitress. I was so nervous that first day but as the tables filled with smiling faces, those nerves quickly disappeared.
There’s truly something special about our small-town community. Over the past three years, I could tell countless stories, but what stands out most are the people. I met my best friend here after her family came in for a few days in a row… and I said “Your here everyday anyways want a job?” Beyond that, I’ve built so many meaningful relationships with our regulars. Strangers turned into familiar faces, and soon it became, “It’s Friday—so-and-so should be here any minute!”
I grew closer to my family through it all. It wasn’t always easy, but it was always worth it. When we first opened, our staff was basically one big extended family…whether that meant childhood friends, neighbors, or simply being Asian (as Andrew once said)😂. This place became a second home, where the seats were full, the coffee was hot, and before long, everyone who walked through the doors felt a little like family too.
To the Dassel community and everyone who supported us, thank you for welcoming us with open arms and making Vinny’s Café so special. I will miss seeing you all more than you know.
