Proud to be in a community with so much lady 👩💼 power 😊!
October is National Women’s Small Business Month, and we are incredibly proud to celebrate the women-owned and co-owned businesses that are part of our Chamber! These inspiring entrepreneurs play a vital role in serving our community and the surrounding areas while contributing to the growth and success of Southwest Wisconsin.
Here are a few statistics highlighting the impact of women-owned businesses across the United States:
• Number of Businesses: Women own more than 14 million businesses in the United States, representing approximately 39%–42% of all U.S. businesses.
• Economic Impact: Women-owned businesses generate more than $2.5 trillion in annual revenue and employ millions of people nationwide.
• Entrepreneurial Growth: Women of color, particularly Black and Hispanic women, represent some of the fastest-growing groups of entrepreneurs in the country.
• A Historic Milestone: The passage of the Women’s Business Ownership Act of 1988 (H.R. 5050) marked a significant step forward for female entrepreneurship, helping eliminate barriers that previously required women to obtain a male relative’s signature to secure business credit.
Throughout the month of October, we encourage you to shop local, show your support, and get to know these incredible women-owned businesses! Please join us in thanking them for their hard work, dedication, and lasting impact on our community and Southwest Wisconsin.
