This is a picture of one of the “nasty” things my dad would eat when I was a kid. Anytime we were in Kentucky or Tennessee he’d pick up a jar or two for home. I never understood his fascination with it until I got older. I made a batch of this for last weekend’s event and people loved it (I did too)! The only issue was I had to explain to folks what chow chow was. I never realized that we might be just a little further north than this southern staple has become know. This is a zesty version with some jalapeños added. We will be adding it to our rotating menu items!

Come check out the Tri-West Youth Football & Cheer League Jamboree on August 1st from 3:30 - 7:30 and grab some tasty BBQ while you’re there! We’ll be doing some short cook items like smoked brisket burgers, craft sausages with spicy chow chow and saltines, as well as party ribs! Of course we’ll have Mac & cheese and beans to accompany your proteins. Let’s get the area youth ready for an exciting season!
