Morning milking gave us 2.5 gallons. We get approximately 4-4 1/2 each day from our girl, Betsy! 🐮
“What do you do with all that milk?”😬— well, here’s our weekly haul & things we no longer rely on the store for:
•Priority- feed Dolly! Dolly is currently 1 month old & bottle fed 3-4 times a day.
•Nourish our family of 5.
•Coffee creamer, a scoop of cream & cane sugar makes the best cup of coffee. (This is coming from someone who never thought I could stop buying coffee creamer!)
•Butter.
•Ice cream! This was my little dream- to be able to make ice cream my family loved. Mission accomplished. 👌🏼
•Mozzarella cheese. We love us some stuffed crust homemade pizza.
•Yogurt.
•Chocolate milk. One 1/2 gallon is easily gone within 1 hour in our household.
•Animal feed. We’ve been able to significantly cut back our feed bill thanks to an overflow of milk. We soak their feed & they all LOVE it! Bonus, our pups and kitties fur is silky smooth.
•& LOADS more ice cream!
•Not pictured— buttermilk for pancakes & biscuits, sour cream & much more we’re still learning.
•Lastly, OGH proudly has our Florida Master Feed License meaning we can legally sell raw milk for pet consumption.
Owning a milk cow is expensive, we won’t sugarcoat that. Using her milk to replace our grocery store haul makes it doable & helps us reach our goal of becoming more self-sufficient, all while providing our family with the nourishment we desire.
Per Florida law, all raw milk products must be labeled for pet consumption only. Take that information for what it is & research yourself. 😊
