Apple picking wasn’t always just a cute fall activity.
For generations, orchards were part of the seasonal rhythm; gathering fruit, baking pies, pressing c***r, preserving what you could, and preparing for the colder months ahead. It wasn’t about content. It was about community, usefulness, and being in tune with the season you were living in.
Maybe that’s why it still feels so good.
There’s something grounding about walking through rows of trees, carrying a paper bag, reaching for fruit with your own hands, and remembering that not everything meaningful has to happen on a screen.
Fall has a way of asking us to slow down. To get outside. To feel the air change. To notice the color of the leaves, the smell of the orchard, the dirt on our shoes, the sweetness of something picked right from the branch.
So consider this your sign to log off for an afternoon.
Go touch grass. Pick apples. Drink the c***r. Bake the pie. Take the long way home.
The simple life is still here, we just have to step back into it.
