McHenry County College now hosts a functioning bakery next to the Culinary Lab. Run by the MCC Baking students, the class is part of the new Baking and Pastry Management degree. We pride ourselves on baking all natural, affordable treats in a state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly kitchen. Come visit us and support McHenry County's own Pastry Arts students. Take a look at some great specials we have this week! PAS-101 made beautiful blueberry and crumb cake muffins for our pastry special today. We also have a delicious olive & rosemary Focaccia bread that goes great with the Bahamian Conch Chowder or the Scallop Gratin. Limited quantities so get here before we run out!

It’s the most wonderful time of the Fall semester! Sweet Scots Bakery opens tomorrow and will run on Wednesdays & Thursdays from 10:00am-1:30pm, in the Scot Room, B178. The picture here is an amazing malted mocha tart, and it is SO GOOD! In honor of Rosh Hashanah, specials this week include Vegan Chipotle Chili, Duck Fat Matzo Ball Soup, Potato Kugel, and Honey Walnut Rugelach. Check out www.mchenry.edu/sweetscots for the main menu. Wednesday, 12/3 is the last day for the bakery this semester. We'll have warm blueberry bread pudding, potato Kugel, puff wrapped sausages, Bison Ghoulash and a mix of various pastries from pastry classes. We also have a few frozen pumpkin pies to purchase for the rest of your holiday plans. Thank you all for braving the construction and supporting our program. Remember, Tartan Bistro reservation requests begin February 1st. Please check that page for more details in January.
