Hello Crosby, Max & Zach here.
Today we’d like to give you a little bit of history & lore surrounding our family & restaurant.
Today is the anniversary of our late father Eric’s birthday. He was an electrical engineer in the merchant navy back in Wales, and went on to open his own business working on calibration equipment for temperature & pressure systems.
Some of you will know the story of the pictures we have hanging up in the restaurant, but for those who don’t, they are all original pictures taken by our late mother Etty during her time as a freelance photographer. We have all of the negatives, and love sharing this piece of our story with all of you.
When we first restored this historical building, we thought it would be perfect to use our mums pictures as decoration. Not only as a way to honor her memory, but because these pictures are a piece of history that very few people on the planet have ever seen. And honestly, they’re just really really cool…
The really weird thing that we’re wanting to share with you is in the pictures attached to this post. After we’d got done with decorating the restaurant and hanging our mums pictures, we were rearranging our storage in the back and uncovered a name scratched into the polystyrene on our back garage door. That name is our Dads name, Eric.
It was probably there from old tenants back in the day for some reason or other, but there’s always that small superstitious voice in the back of our heads telling us that this restaurant was meant to be.
So, ramble over. Thank you for reading. We hope you enjoyed a little bit of Bridge & Barrel history. As a side note, most of these pictures are from the family collection, and definitely a little embarrassing 😂 We hope you enjoy!
