Heavy Metal Ice Cream aims to be open for business in a brick and mortar SOON, pending investor interest. Surviving Covid in our infancy stages has been... a journey. We are certainly not the first in The Lou to specialize in Gourmet Ice Cream, but we are certainly the boldest and loudest. Heavy Metal Ice Cream, summed up, will serve gourmet Ice Cream with only the freshest local ingredients and o

rganic when possible. Our aim is to open a Rock and Metal themed Ice Cream parlor that serves flavors that range from traditional, to wild, to savory, to downright mind blowing and adventurous. The concept was originated by Jay Smith, Crestwood resident, Ice Cream lover and local guitar player - along with his daughter - 17 year old entrepreneur and ice cream aficionado, Noelle Smith. Our eventual storefront, when you enter, will be decked out with everything Rock 'N Roll related from past decades to now. Rolling Stone Magazine covers, Autographs, Guitars on the walls, acrylic table tops encasing various guitar pics and backstage passes acquired over the years. But we're not narrow minded. If it was rebellious and inspired youth to be themselves at any point in the last 50-60 years, you'll hear it playing in our shop. Our playlist can switch from Slayer to The Ramones to Elvis to NWA to The New York Dolls to Prince to KISS. Our flavors range from 3 distinct categories.
- Classic Rock for more traditional flavors
- Glam rock for more indulgent and decadent flavors
- Heavy Metal for everything from savory to spicy to liquor infused selections (We'll need to obtain a permit for that first.) This is going to be a process to say the least. SURPRISE - HAPPY NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY!!!

I know... I know... I swear we didn't "Run to the gas station for some milk". I apologize for what seems was a heck of a ghosting, and yes it has been over a year, so here's an update.

Heavy Metal Ice Cream is alive and well, and NO we are not packing it in. Our plans for a brick and mortar remain and if you want the TL/DR, there you have it. If you'd like to know more, read on;

🍦 - Covid didn't kill us. It did the opposite. With so many struggling a few years back, we thrived as a startup. Doom eating and at home boredom helped us blow up. But the short answer to where we went is simple. It's no secret we were operating "Bootleg". "Underground". Cult status is a pretty cool thing. But... the powers that be could no longer look the other way (Did I say that...? 👀🤭) with food businesses struggling to operate with residential operations. There is no great drama. It was a day we knew would come. And when asked, we complied.

🍦 - Life is great and getting better! I made personal connections with so many of you. We spoke at your car and at your order pickups. I got to know people from down the street, to as far as New Baden Il. People who would drive 30+ miles multiple times a month for their pickups. So I'm happy to share this.

🖤 HMIC has big future plans. We have a more organized outlook and plan to operate in the future.
🖤 That little girl who helped her Dad launch this crazy thing we got into, is now 21 this year, and watching her grow and thrive through this process has made my heart swell. She is an adult now, and I couldn't be more proud of her.
🖤 My heart is full personally, in so many ways since starting this venture. And when this machine looks to open doors and commence operations, I will have a muse by my side.

🍦 - The good news in the meantime, is I am going to start back up with posting. When there are plans to roll out the big picture, you will all be the first to know. Until then... I'm gonna keep churning. I've never stopped. And while our pints aren't currently for sale... we are open to ideas. Drop me a line. Quick question of our loyal patrons and future fans to be!
With the cost of dairy and Heavy Cream continuing to rise... we are trying to find ways to bring you premium flavors that have been missing from the menu for a hot minute. 💸💵💰🪙

Our pints average $8 each and get cheaper the more you buy. But... we would LOVE to bring back some higher end flavors where the ingredients have been cost prohibitive.
- Pistachio (Can be as much as 5-7 times the $ of a jar of peanut butter)
- Honey & Lavender (Honey and lavender extract have both skyrocketed)
- Premium Madagascar Vanilla Bean or Brüt German Chocolate

If we were to offer flavors such as these as Premium at a rate of $10 per pint... would you be willing to pay the up-charge to bring them back?
