Meet The Team: Sydni
If you’ve peeked through the big window into the kitchen on a busy night there’s a good chance you’ve spotted Chef Sydni, our Back of House Lead.
Ask Sydni what song best captures Carmelo’s and she goes straight to Let’s Stay Together by Al Green. Fitting, since she describes Carmelo’s as laid-back and down to earth, the kind of place you settle into and don’t want to leave.
When it comes to her favorite menu items, she’s torn between the Mushroom Marsala and the kids’ pizza. For a drink, she keeps it simple with a sweet tea, but if she’s picking a w**e, it’s white.
If Sydni were introducing a friend to Carmelo’s for the first time, she’d show them the vibe at the bar first, then walk them over to the window to show them the kitchen.
One of her most memorable moments here is the day Chef Dan handed her, her first apron. She’s been with us almost two years now, starting in December right as things were getting off the ground, and she’ll tell you this is one of the best kitchen environments she’s ever worked in.
After a great night, Sydni says the one word that comes to mind is jazzed, and that energy is exactly what makes the kitchen run.
