*Edited: Mischief Managed! Way to go!!!*

Walked all the way to the back to take a photo of the sad Santa mailbox 🤣.

I'm going to let this simmer from the other post because I know someone out there in Coventry has this gift to share with people. Just scroll down and look for the post underneath this market, but we are looking for someone to either fix this one or build a new Santa mailbox for the Merry Market place. If a business does it, we're happy to have you slap your business name on there or an individual, Boy scout troop girl scout troop, anything like that.

I'm not going to rush this because I'm going to manifest an individual or group that wants to participate in the Merry Market like this. I know we have a lot of talent in Coventry and we have a lot of good people. We have had an offer from a local business to do the lettering on the box and I can rope in some teenage children to paint it need be. Other than it needs to be freestanding I think someone has a creative eye for this stuff and I want various people's skills to be represented at this.

Turn those brains on Coventry! Remember, you, that's right you reading this might be the solution!

During covid, what now seems a million years ago, I made a wooden Santa mailbox similar to below. And kids drove out to the farm and mailed letters to Santa.

Anyhooooo its 🤏 sad. I mean my building skills have greatly improved over time but also it was built with whatever I had.

Anyone want to take this on for the market. I mean people are already asking about next year 🤣😬🤪 so this might be a new Coventry thing. You're also welcome to take the mailbox back. It will be out for children to come and mail letters any time coventry gardens is open and will be decorated during the Merry Market. Britney Boyer has offered to write back to children, and we welcome anyone interested in that to help out.

If you can build I can set my teen child to paint it and then guilt someone to do the lettering... Just stay tuned for that post 🤣.

It does not have to look exactly like the one below, that's just inspiration. The one I made actually had a little door to open to put the mail in.

People figured out yesterday's ask, I have nothing but optimism and enthusiasm that we will community solve this as well. Any local business that solves this is welcome to slap their "made by" name on there. This is after all promotion of Coventry small businesses.

*Edited- Mission accomplished Coventry. This was amazing and I'm keep it a surprise. Santa comes to the market Nov 28th so you'll have to show up to see what we got. Just want to thank everyone for sharing. Bringing joy, brings joy. Until the next request!*

Put on your thinking caps and remember this is a community driven effort and you may be the solution! Yes, you reading this!

We have Santa and Mrs. Claus and some holly jolly elves coming to the Merry Market on Nov 28th. How can they arrive in style and something that says "Coventry". I suggested a hot air balloon but Mrs. Claus was a big no 🤣.

Comment below an idea or a connection.

Lunch break and got the flyer for the 28th down! 🤞 For the dancing elves of acuity vision, waiting on confirmation.

Let's get involved Coventry. Meet your neighbors and community business owners. Farm fresh foods and a good time.

Last call for CRAFT vendors. Coventry residents are given preference. I manage several pages, so I need people to message community roots if they are interested in a spot at the Merry Market which will be Saturday Nov 21- Dec 19th 4-7pm, you will not do each week. In the message please say which of those Saturdays you can do and what type of product you sell. Remember you will need to have your sales tax information in order to sell products. I am trying to accommodate a lot of people. I don't want Coventry residents to feel left out. Craft vendors may need to bring a tent we are trying to create like a European Christmas Market atmosphere so if that isn't for you, that's okay.

Really trying to showcase everything our town has to offer. Even small businesses who might be interested in setting something up. I welcome you to contact me. I understand the challenge of our town not really having a central shopping downtown district and that an event like this could be of benefit to many shops.

This is not a jab at town government, because I'm sure it's an issue in many places.

When we talk about wanting to be small business friendly, what does that mean?

We are still working on the permit for the b**r garden (❤️ to the multiple people who have offered to pay if we can't get the fees waived) . First on the application it looks like we could fill it out as the event organizers and just have the business owner write a letter saying they are letting us apply. After submitting that we were told no the business would have to fill it out as having the address in Coventry. Fine. We will have them complete it. Send in that completed application and then are told we will now have to schedule a fire inspection in order to finish the application for the permit. Now that information was not on the initial application. Had it been at the same time as filling it out we could have been getting on the schedule to have the inspection so that we would have all of this done in a timely manner for the event.

This is just one example of something that one could all be made as an electronic submission form that would automatically get bumped to the appropriate department to schedule your fire inspection if that's needed, although I am confused why we need one at a business that's already functioning with people. But even if we did do those things and it was on a paper application having that information on the application to please start your process of contacting the fire marshal to get your inspection so that when all of this comes before Town Council we can have the complete packet. Most small business owners don't have employees, meaning we're running businesses and filling out this paperwork. Britney Boyer is literally just handling the paperwork for this while I organize vendors and activities because the paperwork alone is a full-time job. We are essentially trying to do a shop small event for Coventry. To their credit. The town clerk is just providing us the information that we need and they are doing a great job, with what they have to work with.

So when we wonder why there aren't more small business activities happening in town, this is why. And I think that's something. Everyone in town would like to see more of more festivals. More small businesses stepping up to do events for people. But we have to think about how our small local government impact small businesses. And is it maybe too much. I would love to have area restaurants be able to come and serve food at this event. It's a $100 permit and that's more paperwork and I don't even know what else I would have to provide in order to get that permit. So it's honestly easier for me to just hire food trucks now. We have many in town businesses that are coming, but at this point we're bringing out-of-town food trucks and that's not really what I want to do. I want to bring in intown restaurants but it's just too complicated with the red tape.

Stay tuned for tomorrow. There will be the first glimpse at vendors and activities for the Merry Market as well as Gonzos Shirts Signs will be posting a shirt and hat sale for this event. Proceeds will help to go fund both kids activities and structure things like porta potties that we need

This is The Coventry Gardens where the merry market will be.

In the meantime they have fall decor.

In other news we are looking to fill the gap with food trucks, I believe we need Nov 28, Dec 5 and Dec 12th. We are open to restaurants as well, but that's another permit 🙄. Love to represent Coventry but at this point we are comfortable reaching out.
