Feeling a little sentimental this morning. ❤️
I’m sitting here on the stoop of the restaurant. These steps have seen us sit down after getting our butts absolutely kicked during service, exhausted, usually with an ice-cold beverage in hand, wondering how we even made it through the day.
But today feels a little different.
Today I’m sitting here with an amazing latte from Watts ☕️, meats smoking and I’ve got a little time to just… reflect.
A little over a year ago, I remember telling Jon that I was ready. Ready to bet on us. Ready to take the dive and go after this crazy dream of opening our own place.
And I don’t think I ever truly imagined it would go the way it has.
Every single weekend we meet incredible people. People who are in town visiting family, people exploring our amazing little town, people passing through—and then there are people who tell us they traveled here just to eat our barbecue.
I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to explain what that feels like.
We’ve worked our asses off. There have been long days, stressful days, days we’ve questioned ourselves, and plenty of nights spent right here on this stoop completely worn out. But man… there has been so much GOOD.
And sitting here this morning, I just feel incredibly blessed.
I think sometimes we get so busy living life that we forget to actually stop and realize that we’re living it.
Find your joy. Find the things that make you happy. Do something you love. And whether it’s once a day, once a week, or once a month, give yourself a minute to stop and look around. Reflect. Be thankful. Find the positive—even when life isn’t perfect.
Because there is so much beauty in this life if we give ourselves a chance to notice it.
To our friends and family, near and far. To every person who has walked through our doors, shared our posts, told a friend about us, encouraged us, supported us, or simply sat down and enjoyed a plate of barbecue—thank you.
We are so incredibly blessed.
Life is beautiful. ❤️
Love you all dearly. 🫶🏼 - Mrs. V
