Star Fish Company was started in the early 20's by Judge Millis. Ga***rd Garner purchased the business in the 1950's and his son Allen took it over when his father died in the late 80's. Star Fish Company had primarily been a wholesale company prior to the addition of the retail market in the 60's. Garner had thought that many people want

ed a place where they could purchase locally caught seafood. The retail market built up a solid clientele of both locals and visitors.

Did you know the Manatee River was briefly home to this beautiful ship? The River Queen arrived in Bradenton in 1957, where it was renovated and converted to a museum and restaurant. Despite local popularity, overall the venture was financially unsuccessful and after just two years the River Queen was towed away to start a new life in New Orleans.
