I am Elena Rotari :))) I am here to say that a year ago…around 4 a.m., the morning of September 12, Tomato Patch caught fire. Now a year later, the restaurant is almost ready to reopen with a different floor plan and name.
A fire is a horrible blow for any restauranteur, but how do you go about rebuilding a place that’s so beloved? A building can burn down, but it’s really hard to take away all the great memories we created.
Well, I have to admit that I moved to a new chapter in my life but I still miss Tomato Patch, I miss going to work… I miss taking care of customers. It’s hard to put into words — the support and appreciation I always had.
The industry is all about hospitality and generosity and that sort of thing. And we say that, but sometimes I think we take it for granted. But it’s really kind of overwhelming, when people actually reach out, in very sincere ways, too. It makes me feel really relieved and great.
I sure the restaurant’s going to be gorgeous when it opens up this coming March. We are coming back better and stronger than ever.
We(I say "we" bc I feel part of it) look forward to welcoming everybody back!
