Nino on converting his hotel restaurant in Brussels into a medieval attraction, “On the Alitalia flight to Milan from Caracas, I picked up the airline magazine. An ad about Bunratty Castle in Bunratty, five miles from Shannon Town, Ireland, caught my attention. They were using the medieval castle for special events and for tourist groups. They staged medieval-style dinners with period entertainment, décor, and food. I thought that was a good idea. When I arrived in Brussels I was greeted by staff members I knew and by new ones. I started immediately to make phone calls to Ireland, and in a few days I was on my way to Shannon Town to contract for a package deal for a year which included artists, stage production, singers, minstrels, cooks, decorators, uniforms, and waiters. The hotel restaurant was converted into a medieval attraction. Many tourist groups came to see this spectacle, and it fascinated the locals, too.” -From Nino Pernetti’s Caffe Abbracci Cookbook,📕 His Life Story and Travels around the World.🌎
