FROM THE SOURCE: EP 01

A look into how we choose the right farm partners.

Sourcing locally isn’t just about where our food comes from. It’s about knowing the farmers behind it, understanding how it’s grown, and choosing partners who care about what they’re putting into the ground as much as we care about what goes on your Plate.

Because when you know your farmers, you know your food.

🎉We’re Honored, Tampa: 2026 Best of the City – Best Health-Conscious Restaurant by TAMPA Magazine 🎉

Naked Farmer started right here in Tampa with a simple idea: food should bring us closer to where it comes from.

We wanted to build a restaurant around local farms, seasonal ingredients, cooking from scratch, and sourcing decisions we could stand behind. Tampa was the first community to believe in that idea with us.

To everyone who voted for us, ordered a plate, and told a friend about Naked Farmer, or has been part of this community since we cooked our first plate in 2020, thank you.

Here’s to better food, closer to home.

Turns out, there’s a lot more going on behind the greens…

Here are 4 things we learned during our visit at Greener Roots Farms →

Hydroponic systems can use either a soil-based or soilless growing method. At Greener Roots, our Farm Greens are grown without traditional soil, with their roots getting nutrients directly through water and LED lighting.

Believe it or not, the dark is an important part of the growing process. Plants use this time to process the nutrients they’ve taken in and continue growing.

Farmers can read the plant’s natural cues to know when it’s ready. The way the leaves open and separate from the core can help signal that it’s time to harvest🌿

Controlled growing conditions mean crops don’t have to wait for the seasons. They can be grown and turned over more frequently throughout the year—which means more Farm Greens making their way to your Plate!

Greetings from Greener Roots 🌱

We visited our friends at Greener Roots in Nashville to spend some time with William, get a closer look at where some of our Farm Greens begin, and meet the people behind them

Our Farm Greens are grown hydroponically, using nutrient-rich water delivered directly to their roots and advanced LED lighting to create the ideal growing environment. With everything carefully controlled, the plants can thrive consistently throughout the year—no traditional soil required

Once they’re ready, the Greens are harvested fresh and make their way to Naked Farmer, just down the road

When your Greens are grown this fresh, you don’t need to cover them up. Just a little prep and a light dressing to let the flavor shine. No fluff, no filler

And finally, the Farm Greens go from greenhouse to your Plate, fresh from the source and grown close to home.

From the farm, with love 💌

Meet Greener Roots, the local Nashville farm behind our classic Farm Greens🌿

Greener Roots uses hydroponic farming techniques to grow fresh, leafy greens year round, while using significantly less water and making it possible to grow food closer to the communities where it’s eaten.

A big thank you to William for giving us a behind-the-scenes look at hydroponic farming!

We’re so grateful to welcome the Gulch community into our newest space. 🫶

We designed this space with the same intention we bring to our food—thoughtful, fresh, and made to bring people together. We’re so proud to finally share it with the Gulch community.

The love and support we’ve received since opening our doors has been incredible, and seeing this beautiful space come to life has made it even more special.

Thank you for making us feel right at home, Nashville💚
