MAMAS… WHAT’S YOUR NIGHT CAP?
And no, I’m not talking about alcohol. 😂 I’m talking about that little routine you do at the end of the day that tells your mind and body, “It’s time to rest.”
Postpartum can be beautiful, but those newborn days can also mean feeding, changing diapers, rocking babies, trying to remember when YOU last ate, and functioning on broken sleep. 😩
Sometimes we get so focused on taking care of the baby that we forget that Mama needs care too.
Your night cap might look like:
A warm caffeine-free tea
Reading a few pages
Prayer and quiet time
Journaling
🚿 A warm shower
Putting the phone down
💡 Dimming the lights
Or simply getting in the bed when you finally have the opportunity!
And during those early postpartum weeks, remember that you don't have to constantly entertain your newborn. Simple things like skin-to-skin, talking and singing, supervised tummy time, cuddling, and allowing yourself to REST are meaningful too.
Rest is productive during postpartum. Your body is recovering while you're learning an entirely new rhythm of life.
MOMS, I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU:
What is YOUR night cap before bed that helps you relax or sleep better?
And if you’re currently in your newborn/postpartum season, what has helped you the most?
