With sadness, we announce the permanent closing of Nida's Thai on High on December 17, 2022.
Over two decades ago, Nida and Chris met in Bangkok, while Chris was vacationing there. After becoming partners in life in Chris's Columbus home, it became our business dream to bring Thai food to the Short North, a cuisine that was lacking in our emerging restaurant-centric neighborhood. Our first step was to open in the North Market in 2001, but our greater goal was to craft a full-service restaurant on High Street. After a lot of effort, we opened Nida's Thai on High in 2008. To our delight, we opened with fanfare to a warm, enthusiastic reception on a part of High Street that was much quieter and less populated than it is today. We have grown with our neighborhood.
Fourteen years have passed, and we are grateful beyond words for the recognition and support we have received. The outcome has exceeded our hopes and expectations. It is extremely difficult to call it quits, but Thai food is not easy to make and make well. Given the challenges, especially at a time when staffing is awfully hard to maintain, the moment has arrived for this chapter in our lives to end. We do not want to fall short of what our guests deserve and have come to expect by being unable to live up to our vision.
For those of you who will miss us on High Street, Nida and several of her signature Thai dishes and sushi will remain available at our North Market location. A very heartfelt thanks goes out to all of you who have visited and supported us on High Street over these years. We will deeply miss being with you and being able to serve you there.
Please visit us in these final few weeks as we say goodbye to High Street. We are proud of what we have contributed here and have been nourished by this community and all of you.
