“Change is the only constant in life”
Our food journey at casa karmelitas has come to a temporary end this year. We will not be participating in any events with our truck nor have any stationed services. As this saddens me a lot, with everything going on and prices being really high I do not see this style of business being one that benefits myself or my family at the moment. I will always have a deep respect and love for this industry as for it built the foundation of what my vision is today. Selling food was never a means to an end but rather the start of something. I started selling food because I was diving deep into a culture I didn’t have much relation to growing up ( or so I thought … ) I tried looking for ways to know more of my Mexican culture here in the US and food was the easiest thing. All together, with casa karmelitas became more than food, it became a vibe. A celebration of culture through food, community, art and music. I try to embrace all this at my events and sometimes it’s hard when all my time and effort is behind running a truck.
as many know, last year was a tough year for my truck and getting back up was rough. Not impossible but it made me realize this was not the lifestyle I want when my vision is bigger.
With all this being said, we will not have any scheduled food services for the foreseeable future but do expect to see a lot more cultural activities that I’m excited to share with you. Tortillas workshops, repujado nights and of course still expect collaboration food pop ups. We are not completely gone after all 😉
