Yesterday I saw a friend--Jeanne Christopher--who was part of the original group that created the Paquin St. Cafe back in 1972; one who I'd not seen in more than 50 years. She and a friend, Donna Checkett, stopped by the Peace Nook to say hello and here's a pic of Jeanne and me.

Please share remembrances, if you have any. --Mark Pw Haim

Mark posting: Browsing around the web I found some pics of the Cafe and of some communards including this one, which I'm pretty sure was taken outside the house at 207 & 1/2 Waugh St.

I recognize Lee, Gretchen and John Randolph. The other woman, in pink, looks familiar, but I can't seem to place who it is. Anyone reading this know?

I also should note that they are holding a giant bowl of dough. Why they would be doing this at their house, rather than at the Cafe, just a block or so away initially seemed a mystery, but, thinking it over, I realized that the Cafe opened right around Labor Day 1972. I'm guessing this pic was taken in the spring or earlier in the summer that year.

Congress is voting to give Israel additional billions in munitions. Our senators need to hear from more of us who oppose this.

Both of our senators have offices here in CoMo (in the same building). We have repeatedly visited their offices and all they will say is "Israel has a right to defend itself," which is true, but a bogus response to our concerns regarding the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent civilians and the dislocation and lack of sufficient nutrition of millions. They need to hear from more of us.

Demand your Senators OPPOSE H.R.8034, the Israel Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024, per U.S. law

I received very sad news today. Paul Fotsch, friend, and former member of our Stoneybrook/Paquin St. collective, passed away in his sleep last night. Friends report that he had appeared to be in good health, performing both Friday and Saturday.

I wrote the following on his FB page: "I'm at a loss as to what to say. I've known Paul since Stoneybrook Farm and Paquin St. Cafe days, back in the early 1970s. He was a kind person; truly an example of caring and sharing. He will be missed, to be sure. May his memory be a blessing to his family and to all who knew and loved him. Gone too soon. Make every day count, friends." --Mark Haim
