Did you know? Deep in the sweeping hills of northern Burundi, we met the resolute coffee farmers from the Kayanza region. As the first cooperative formed in Burundi, their tenacity in learning and applying new knowledge shines through in their world-class coffee.

We source our coffee from the farmers of the Musema Cooperative and pay them directly, ensuring a fair trade that keeps their business sustainable and ours meaningful.

This single origin coffee has a gentle honey aroma brought to life with a winey acidity paired with berry chocolate flavor. This specialty coffee is optimally roasted in South Africa to deliver a taste as rich as the continent it comes from!

So, what is the best roast?

We often get this question, and we decided to take it to the experts over at Bean There Coffee.

First off, coffee roasting is a balance between time and temperature. If it takes too long to reach the desired temperature, the flavors will be baked out of the coffee and flat and dry. On the other hand, if the desired temperature is reached too quickly, the coffee will be scorched on the outside and underdeveloped on the inside. Therefore, enough time must be given for the roast to reach a specific temperature, develop the flavors, and caramelize the sugars.
