Mahalo (Thanks) to the Colonial Beach Chamber of Commerce for putting on another great Potomac River Festival. We had our GrandPa Hawaii Shave Ice mobile trailer right on the boardwalk near the bathrooms again this year. We had great weather, a good turn out of people and amazing Fireworks at the end of Saturday night.

We plan to be back down there on the boardwalk for this Sunday's Father's day Car show. Come visit and get some authentic Hawaiian Shave Ice. With Aloha, GPH.

We had a great weekend with our Grandpa Hawaii Shave Ice, Mobile Shave Ice trailer at the Potomac River Festival this last Saturday and Sunday. We were located right on the boardwalk with mostly good weather all weekend. A lot of people came out both days. The fireworks were the bomb. The best fireworks I can remember in years and years. It’s amazing how they make those pyrotechnic designs in the sky. Truly Night Sky art was on display. Great job Town of Colonial Beach.

This short video brings back fond memories. When I first moved to Hawaii back in March, 1977 I lived in this town called Kailua on the Windward side of Oahu. It has the Mokulua islands offshore, which provided a lot of recreational entertainment. I remember swimming out there with a couple of friends, it was a long swim back. But what a beautiful sunrise experience there. You gotta go check it out.

GrandPa Hawaii Shave Ice Trailer is returning to the boardwalk for our 5th summer season! We’ll be serving all your favorites: World‑Class Hawaiian Shave Ice with Snowcap toppings, Ice Cream, Hot Dogs, Chips, assorted Hawaiian pastries, and refreshing beverages.

We’re planning to be at every festival this summer through Labor Day weekend. Come see us and grab your favorite treats all season long!

· 75th Annual Potomac River Festival & Grand Parade (June 13 & 14, 2026)
· 19th Annual Father’s Day Classic Car Show (June 21, 2026)
· 46th Annual Rod Run to the Beach (August 15 & 16, 2026)
· 11th Annual Colonial Beach Water Fest (August 15 & 16, 2026)
· 59th Annual Arts & Crafts Festival (September 5 & 6, 2026)

We may include setting up our trailer on other weekends in-between the festivals. The festivals that take place after Labor Day are all pending according to the weather.

And don’t forget! Our take‑out window at 320 1st Street is open Monday through Saturday, 8am–5pm, with extended summer hours coming soon. Stop by for Hawaiian coffee and pastries, smoothies, and more!

Another blessing that GrandPa Hawaii Tropical Treats has experienced has been with my our past staff / members of our crew returning for another season. Here's Kennedy, one of our All Stars returning for her 4th season working with GPHTT. She is so capable, such a bright light and a pleasure to work with. Here she is displaying her multiple contributions by painting the inside lettering of our outdoor sign. See how it "pops" at night when the solar lights come on. Good Job Kennedy.

We will soon be expanding our hours as Summer approaches. We hope to be able to be a breakfast alternative in Colonial Beach in the summer mornings, as well as stay open after the dinner hour to partake in the dessert hour. More info. to follow. It's exciting! Stay Tuned.

I have been so blessed hiring people in Colonial Beach. Here’s Sarah a new recent hire. She is a sharp cookie that I’m so proud to be working by her side. I gave her her first check last week, at least 1st Ck. working for me. Those of you that come visit in the near future will get to see her amazing grace, smiling face and excellent Customer Service skills. She will be a rockstar. And she knows how to throw a mean “Hawaiian Shaka” sign with her hand. You are definitely hired Girl. Check it out.
