Hey Guys!! Still excited!! I ended up 2nd in ribs, 16th in pork and 6th in whole hog!! Steak Cookoff Association Arlington BBQ Burnout was a great competition, congratulations to Barking Pig BBQ for GC 901qcompetitionbbqteam for ribs win, special thanks to Fireside Smokers BBQ Team & James Cruse for pointers on finals, and all that had their names called.
I couldnt do it without Heath Riles BBQ for that championship flavor profile, B&B Charcoal supplying the heat, Gateway Drum Smokers Smokin Brothers and Ole Hickory Pits the best smokers in the game. Dream big. Work hard. Stay humble. Never stop cooking.

Hey guys!!! What a great weekend that the Carriage Crossing Memphis In May The Heartland Network bbq_country competition this weekend, with the honor of serving 400 samples of ribs to the public. I also had the opportunity to talk to bbq_country host Russ Lannom, hang out and serve some ribs to HANNAH DASHER, see the staff behind MIM McKenzie Carson, Mack Weaver, Kevin Grothe & many of the great MIM volunteers. Shout out to ThunderCookie BBQ Transportation and Clothing Brian Easley on solid finishes in the competition, and congrats to Mike with Ole Smokey BBQ on the win. Huge thanks to Superlo Foods and Prairie Fresh Pork for ribs, Heath Riles BBQ for helping provide that world championship flavor profile, and Smokin Brothers for the use of a cook shack pellet smoker to be able to cook all those ribs at once! A special thank you to Anonymous Swine for helping with prepping, wrapping, cooking and cambro for the event, your support and help is truly a blessing . I also want to thank everyone. Finally, thank you again to Memphis In May for this experience and all the countless people yesterday, that commented on my ribs, took time to talk BBQ, or ask more about Team Bugsyque!!! Dream big. Hey Guys!! What a weekend!
Friday was demos with Bruce Harrington and meeting Sweet Baby Ray's Restaurant & Catering & Famous Dave's. A ribeye cutting class with Kirk Malzer and set up for the National Barbecue & Grilling Association Fire and Flavor event. I also competed in the Krusteaz cornbread challenge, taking home 3rd place with a peach poblano hot honey cornbread.
Saturday was fast paced all day with tailgating category, pork category, and beef category where Team Future of Q (Clayton Dixon & BBQ Bugsy) managed a 2nd place in each category for the Reserve Grand Championship. Congrats to Fireside Smokers BBQ Team on the GC. Shoutout to charcoalcowboys that cinnamon roll pork belly was awesome.
Special thanks to Bruce Harrington for coaching, Future of Q for the opportunity to challenge ourselves and National Barbecue & Grilling Association & Barbecue News Magazine for all yall do!!
Next weekend, I will be doing the Carriage Crossing Memphis In May event with demos and samples Saturday 9/19 from 1-4pm. You don’t want to miss this one!! Dream big. Work hard. Stay humble. Never stop cooking.
