Hey Guys!! I made the trip up to Franklin TN for the Rib Cookoff Association Tennessee State Championship this weekend. I ended up with an 8th place BYO ribeye call, 2nd place in rib A and 13th in rib B. I also snagged some goodies with the raffle winning a griddle that Joseph Mccord allowed me to trade them for the Tribal Fire Grill pack out that I will be using to get ready for the National Barbecue & Grilling Association live fire event. It was a great weekend finally meeting Steak Tank and talking to him at length about BBQ. I also was introduced to TN Craft Butcher as well. Hopefully, I can maybe explore some future teaching opportunities with them. Shoutout to Clayton Dixon for his 5th place BYO ribeye call. Steak Tank for his perfect score in ribs and GC, and all the others that heard their names called. Special thanks to Heath Riles BBQ for that winning flavor profile, B&B Charcoal keeping my Ole Hickory Pits and Gateway Drum Smokers rolling needles up all day. Finally, of course Prairie Fresh Pork prime ribs delivered as always. Dream big. Work hard. Stay humble. Never stop cooking.

Hey Guys!! I’m at Rib Cookoff Association Tennessee State Championship in Franklin TN, Clayton Dixon is here as well and we are gonna try to make it 2 weeks in a row with some amazing calls! Shout out to Heath Riles BBQ for giving me that winning flavor, B&B Charcoal for keeping my Gateway Drum Smokers and Ole Hickory Pits running needles up!! Prairie Fresh Pork for the best ribs period. Future of Q posted about show your first competition. So here it goes!!

From My First Competition to Walking the Biggest Stage. September 2021… Four years, eight months, and one day later—I had the honor of walking the stage at Memphis in May 2026.

I showed up to my very first BBQ competition at the Hernando Water Tower Festival with a dream, a lot to learn, and no idea where this journey would take me.

What happened in between wasn’t luck. It was countless early mornings, late nights, long drives, missed sleep, victories, disappointments, learning from every cook, and meeting some incredible people who became family.

These two pictures tell the story better than words ever could. One is where it all started. The other is proof that if you stay committed, keep learning, and refuse to quit, amazing things can happen.

To everyone who has supported me along the way—family, friends, teammates, sponsors, mentors, and fellow competitors—thank you. Every bit of encouragement helped make this journey possible.

This isn’t the end of the story. It’s just another milestone.

Here’s to the next cook, the next challenge, and the next walk across the stage.
