Cline's on the River

We are deeply saddened to inform you all that Cline’s alumni Jonathan Saner has been called to join Jim and Helen at the Cline’s On The River in the Sky. A long time patron, he was a member of the Cline's softball team (The Bad News Beers) and you could usually find him at the bar on weekend nights singing karaoke and just being his normal awesome self. He was a truly kind and gentle soul who always brought joy to those around him. Please join us in extending our deepest condolences to his wife Robin, his twin brother Jason and his wife Chrissy, his family and many friends. Arrangements are as follows: Visitation will be held at Cooper Funeral home on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025 from 4pm-8pm. Mass of Christian burial will be on Thursday, October 2nd, 2025 at St. Joes Camp Springs at 10am. Burial will be immediately following at St. Joes Camp Springs Cemetery with military honors.

We here at the Cline’s page are sad to announce the unexpected passing of Billy Furguson. Billy was a weekend regular for many years. An excellent softball player, he was a longtime member of the Cline’s Softball Team and regularly led the team in several offensive categories. He and his wife Carrie were married in a ceremony on the deck at Clines. Anyone who knew Billy loved his infectious joy, playfulness and kindness. He will be greatly missed. We extend our deepest condolences to his wife Carrie, his daughter Aundrea and the rest of his family and friends during this difficult time. Visitation is this Wednesday 11 AM to 1 PM at Cooper Funeral Home in Alexandria.

We are saddened to announce the passing of Cline’s alumni Shane Ray, aka “Taco,” after a long battle with cancer. Shane was a popular long time night patron and a bartender who often stayed beyond closing time to help the closing bartender(s) with the trash and other closing duties. Both lovable and crotchety, many of us have fond memories of late night summer adventures cruising with him on the Licking River in his boat that he kept at the dock below the bar. Often we were out to sunrise drinking, laughing and floating down the river. Shane was a lover of animals and cared for many orphaned or injured wild animals in his home who were unable to survive in the wild on their own. Let us raise a toast of Morgan's and Coke as Shane has joined Jim and Helen for a drink at the bar at the Clines On The River in the sky.

At this time there are no ceremony arrangements, however if a Celebration Of Life is planned we will certainly update that information on the page.

Apologies on running so behind on posting this. We are saddened to announce the passing of Cline's alum Andrew "Thorny" Thornberry who passed away on Thanksgiving Day. Thorny was a weekend night regular for years who enjoyed singing at Janet and J.B's Karaoke. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.

We are sad to inform you of the passing of beloved Cline's family member Carol Redmond. A volunteer for Big Stef Inc, she was often found at Clines working tirelessly with the charity while spreading her infectious joy to the patrons of the bar. All three of her children, Michael Hall, Leha Schutte and Perrie Lahner were also employees of Clines. We send lots of hugs and extend our deepest condolences to them and their family during this difficult time.

10 years ago today the last beverage was served at our beloved Cline's On The River. As good friend of the bar Brian Springer aka Badger has always said, "We are all still de-Clineing." So true.

We are saddened to announce the passing of Cline's alum Dan Leisring who was a regular weekender for many years. It was always a pleasure to see Dan when he stopped by, you were always guaranteed a good story and a good laugh. Rest In Peace dear friend and give Jim and Helen a hug for us in Cline's heaven.

Unfortunately we missed his passing and are just now finding out. Arrangements were yesterday 8/22.
