We Ain't no fast food resturant! We are a Barbecue Joint! We do brisket, pork ribs, chicken, pulled pork, sausage, turkey our Massive DINO Beef Ribs! Home Made cobblers and sandwiches. All our hand made sides are made fresh every early morning, potato salad, cole slaw, pinto beans and mac and cheese. Come and check out our newly remodeled building located 9,000 feet above the stress level in beautiful Lincoln National Forest.

Man… we had a great meal yesterday! I have to thank Sysco for inviting us over for lunch at the Burnt Bean in Seguin, Texas. It’s easy to see what made them number one on the prestigious Texas Monthly list. I learned a lot from co owner Ernest. And not much of it had anything to do with smoking meats. I’d like to thank him and his co owner Super Dave for taking the time to visit with us. If y’all are ever in the Seguin area you need to stop by, it’s an experience you won’t forget!

I’m back and want to invite you guys to visit us today. You see, today is a very special day, it’s our 11 year anniversary. I opened this joint on 5/23/15, Saturday of Memorial Weekend. And it’s been quite a ride! I could write a book on all the interesting characters I’ve met. I’d like to also thank everyone that has helped along the way. I couldn’t sleep well last night, and I’m laying here in the apartment above the bbq joint hearing early morning pit master Anthony down below doing his thing. He’s one of our unsung heroes that most of you never see. I hope to see you guys this weekend, I’m back, on the cutting board, and looking forward to your visit. Pro tip… come early. We open at 11am, but arrive by 10 to secure a great spot and the full menu!

We have a special visitor this weekend. All the way from Lockhart, Texas! Rabbi Don! He’s thinking of helping us in Johnson City and wanted to see the mayhem behind the scenes. On a previous trip he left us some artwork with some words of encouragement. He was one of my early customers when I first started in Lockhart with my trailer. He’d come up to the window and order what we called ‘The Rabbi’, a chopped brisket sandwich with cole slaw! Stop by and tell him hi this weekend, order ‘The Rabbi’ and we’ll give you a free fountain drink!

I’m headed to Cloudcroft in the morning with another load of post oak. From the new place in Johnson City to MJ’s Mountaintop Bbq is 555 miles. I’m excited about being there this weekend. You see, we opened on 5/23/2015, so we’ll be celebrating our 11 year anniversary! If you’d can,,stop by and say hi, I’d love to see you guys. I’ll be working Saturday, Sunday and Monday! Yep! We will be open Memorial Day. Let’s do something special… how about if you’re a Veteran, stop by Monday, and I’ll buy you any of our sandwiches and I’ll throw in a side and a fountain drink! I ain’t gonna lie. I posted this Cloudcroft sunset pic to hopefully catch your attention. We need your help. You see, a dear friend, actually the very first person I met in Cloudcroft, sitting at Dave’s Cafe, was Jody Mancillas. You’d be hard pressed to find a better guy. And he could use our help. You see, he’s fighting cancer. This week, through Monday (YES! we’ll be open Monday!) we’ll have our ‘Love Bucket’ out to show him some love. If you can, please help. The bucket will be at our hostess station. You’re not obligated to eat with us, just sneak in and drop a dollar. Wasn’t long after buying the property for our Texas Hill Country Bbq joint that an old timer told me “oh, that’s where the kids use to go skinny dipping”. Well, they left their mark! Once we get this joint open, y’all can buy yourself some old school bbq and stroll down to the river for a picnic. And what y’all do after that is up to you!
