Here we go, found another Underground gem! Before there was The Protest there was Protest for Pluto. The year was 2011... I, Brandon Wallace was encouraged by Jared Ballenger son of the famous CCM artist Billy Ballenger to book a band I had never heard of before for the upcoming Underground that July. Going on blind faith, I reached out to Josh Bramlett and ask if they could play that weekend and they agreed, thus began a long lasting friendship. They only played that one show in July of 2011 as Protest for Pluto and by the time we booked them for New Year's Eve they had official change thier name to The Protest. The next year they played PVCYM's Red-Eye Night and closed the last show at Hillcrest Community Center in August of 2012, the 100th Underground. It's great to see what the Lord has done in and through The Protest over the years, since the Underground, I've seen them countless times headling shows and touring with some of biggest names in the industry. I'm just glad I had a small part in seeing them from thier humble beginnings to what the Lord is still doing with them today!

NOTE: I did have a Protest for Pluto cd but I can't seem to find it, but I do have a Mp3 version of the album and I believe you can still hear it on most major streaming platforms. Just look up Protest For Pluto: Call Before You Dig

Just because the Underground has closed it's doors doesn't mean those that were involved have stopped doing things. P.V.C.Y.M.(Parke/Vermillion Christian Youth Mission) is still going strong with weekly activities, occasional live concerts, and multiple special events so make sure you head over to the facebook to check out what is going on in your area! Well, it's been since March since I updated this page. As you all know, the Underground has went under. Never what we wanted but sometimes God moves us in different directions. So with that being said, Parke/Vermillion Christian Youth Mission (P.V.C.Y.M.) is moving in that direction. But as of right now things are being put into place to start of another venue under the direction of P.V.C.Y.M. No this will not be the Underground (at least not in the way you use to remember) but it will be something that will draw music fans none the less. We're still in the planning stages so nothing is concrete yet, but we are shooting for New Year's Eve. We will keep you informed on the progress as develops. If things go as planned this New Year's Eve Bash will be a catalyst for great things to come, stay tuned!!!

Brandon Wallace here, just letting everyone know what's going on with the Underground. As most of you know last year the "owner" of Hillcrest Community Center (H.C.C.) kicked us out after 8 years of service to the youth of the community. Though we were asked to leave the building by the end of 2012, we (Parke/Vermillion Christian Youth Mission "P.V.C.Y.M.") decided to make the August Block Party (The 100th Underground) our last Underground at H.C.C. There were a lot of misfortunate events and many disagreements with the owner that lead up to this unfortunate moment in Underground history. Even through the strife we don't regret the time that we had at H.C.C. to minister on a monthly basis to the youth of this community. Beginning in September we started having Underground elsewhere and struggled to find a place within our price range to host this event on a monthly basis. From parks, to other town, and even in a church we managed to keep the Underground afloat through the remainder of the year as we took The Underground “On Tour”. To top it off, last year, P.V.C.Y.M. not only lost the place to have The Underground, Red-Eye Night, New Year's Eve Bash, and our weekly youth group, we lost a large some of support from an area church, leaving us with a very small budget to run a youth mission on. So as we started 2013 with such a low budget we decided to do the Underground every other month. Of course as most of you know February came and went without a place within our budget to host the Underground leaving us with another month without the Underground. We never intended for this to happen but sometime these things happen. So right now we have to rethink our approach to this outreach that has been given to us by God to manage. And hopefully with God’s permission to proceed with this outreach elsewhere. Last year we blew a couple of P.A. Speakers that was on lone to us from a friend and we have to replace these speakers before setting our eyes on the next Underground. Unfortunately with such a low budget we have put all of our resources together to fix these speakers. As for the future of the Underground, it is very in uncertain what God has in store for us. Things might change with this Underground that most of you have grown to love but God is still in charge, not us, and if He wants us to see this through He will provide a building, a safe haven for those who are lost and searching for the truth that only God can give. IF NOT (man, as a human being, it’s really hard to say that…IF NOT, huhhhhhh!?) …then God’s will be done!!! Please be in prayer with us as we ask for guidance from our Lord on what do with this amazing outreach! Thank you for all your support and prayer over these years with the mission of P.V.C.Y.M. Well, things are not gonna work out for us this month to have the Underground...can't find a place in Parke or Vermillion Counties to have it, so we're gonna have to CANCEL February 23rd.
