Public Statement
Unfortunately, we are saddened to announce that after all the hard work, time, and investment we have put into preparing our new location at the Tiffany Glass Building, our plans have come to an unexpected end.
We were extremely close to opening what would have been a beautiful new downtown location at 850 Euclid Avenue. Over the past several weeks, we invested approximately $50,000 into equipment, renovations, and improvements to build something special for the community.
After receiving a proposal from the property owner regarding new monthly terms, we responded with a reasonable counterproposal. Based on what followed, it is clear that our proposal was not well received.
Shortly after, the situation escalated in a very concerning way. Without any eviction notice, court order, or legal process, the property owner directed their crew to shut off both water and power to our unit.
This created a serious safety hazard. When the power was shut off, the buildingβs magnetic security doors went into fail-safe lock mode, preventing individuals from entering or exiting the first floor. As a result, people were effectively trapped inside for approximately six hours.
We were forced to contact both the police and the fire marshal. The fire department ultimately had to disassemble the buildingβs front door locking system to restore safe access in the event of an emergency.
This situation raises serious concerns about how far this company is willing to go.
Due to these actions and the unreasonable changes in terms, we have no choice but to step away from this location. We are currently removing our equipment and securing storage while we search for a new home for our downtown concept.
At this time, we will be pursuing legal action to address this matter appropriately.
We want to sincerely thank everyone for their continued support, love, and encouragement during this difficult time. This is not the end for usβjust a setback. We will come back stronger.
Based on our experience, we strongly urge anyone considering leasing space in the Tiffany Glass Building to proceed with extreme caution.
