A belated Happy New Year from Han! Did you know that in Chinese, "fish" has the same pronunciation as "abundance", and thus is usually the centerpiece of a Chinese New Year's banquet? Would you like some savory and wholesome "steamed whole fish" (top left), or some super spicy fried fish fillets with the deceptive name of "water boiled fish" (center)? Han wishes you an abundant 2015!

You may have seen this huge boiling pan on the table of every large group of Chinese diners at Han. It's your ultimate test of Chinese spiciness, Roast Fish Hot Pot (烤全鱼), a well-seasoned roast fish in super spicy boiling soup. Choose what you'd like to cook in the soup: ultra-thin beef slices, cabbage leaves, needle mushrooms, potato slices, etc. It's a secret menu item for the brave souls only - some Chinese people can't even handle the spicy level!

My new favorite: Deep fried jumbo shrimp in spicy sauce. Super crunchy, just the right amount of heat, and perfect with a steamy bowl of rice:)
