Great American Coffee House Tour We're constantly searching for the best independent/small chain coffee houses across America.

Follow along on our visits, and submit your suggestions and nominations! We earnestly try to consider flavors, ambiance, personality and service, as well as competency regarding flexibility of offerings. Hint: if your House only offers white granulated sugar as a sweetener, that will probably count against your rating. We'll be grading coffee shops 1-5 points (represented by 'coffee cups'), and wi

ll be working to compile a 'top 5' in each state as we see them. It's merely our opinion and a summary of our experience, that's all.

Super coffee House in Norwood (Cincinnati) OH, just a few blocks from the Xavier Univ. campus…so very popular and hopping with college coeds. Full gamut of beverage offerings, from red eye to cortado to affogato, and quite well done. 🤤

Holy moly! This was one of the best Houses we’ve been to in quite a while. Phenomenal beverages, space, ambiance, and service. This is undoubtedly a destination worth your day trip from most anywhere in Ohio!

We ordered:
Brown Butter Maple Cortado
Thom’s Sorrel (hibiscus forward tea)
The Pear’s Well Matcha

…but do NOT let the flavors in the titles mislead; the cortado, for instance, was every bit a cortado, but with a subtle infusion of flavor. Parable is coffee FIRST, and they have tremendous imagination with their menu. Why don’t we live here??

We’ve always felt that one of the best measures of a solid coffee purveyor starts with the cortado. A cortado levels the playing field across every space; no sweeteners, syrups, or heavy dairy influences to cloud one’s judgement. As we reconvene our coffee travels (we’ve actually been out quite a bit in the past year but not posting that much), we found this delightful House SW of Ocala FL, just a few miles off I-75.

Our first order was for two cortados. The proprietor directed us towards the sugar condiment station “if we needed it.” Let us reassure you that no sweetener was needed NOR wanted. They’re sourcing a great bean, and expertly roasting it!

Could use some expanded seating where we can meet and plot the path to world peace, but very cool jazz-inspired tunes playing nevertheless.
