Twelve years ago today we opened our window on a little empty lot at 12th & Market to sell the very first Wildwich sandwich. The exterior lettering had not been done, we forgot to bring change, and most people looked at us like we were nuts trying to sell gourmet sandwiches out of an old FedEx truck.
👀🚛🤣
We persisted & slowly grew. Back in those days I wrote every menu by hand, and even back then we still made our mayo from scratch. After 18 months of hard work we opened our cafe in the Highmark building thanks to the support of the DelleDonne company. We added coffee drinks, breakfast sandwiches, salads & rice bowls to the menu & really started to come into our own.
🏢☕️🥗🍛
We had our share of good luck & miscues along the way, from adding a location on King Street (that failed miserably), to adding smash burgers on the menu (which changed the whole company…with the help of quarantine).
🍔😷
With our new burger truck charging out of the pandemic we found our groove and blew up into what we’ve become today. The demand was amazing, and I was able to fill each week’s calendar just by answering requests. We served every neighborhood, brew pub & festival around town.
🗓️🍻🏘️🥳
We came across our current burger joint in Claymont about 2 years ago, quickly getting open just after the loss of our truck in a fire (stupid lithium-ion batteries). We’ve become a part of the Claymont fabric and are looking forward to many more years here. We’re also focusing on the future, considering a return to a mobile unit as well as an opportunity in Chesapeake City.

These first 12 years have truly flown by. I can’t thank those who have come along for the ride enough. Our contemporaries, our hard-working crew, and especially our loyal customers. None of this magic would’ve happened without you all.
😘🍔❤️
Can’t wait to see what the next 12 years bring.
