StoryWorks Theater is doing great things in Clarksdale!
Can’t wait to attend this event after the Sinners screening tomorrow.

Kicking off Thursday’s events, StoryWorks’ Editorial Director Aallyah Wright and Capital B’s rural issues reporter, will moderate a Q&A session with director Ryan Coogler, actor Miles Caton (“Sammie”), and executive producer/composer Ludwig Göransson immediately after the 11:00 am screening at Clarksdale Civic Auditorium.

On Friday at 12pm, Layla Young, our Associate Artistic Director, will be on the panel, “Mississippi’s Film Future: Attracting Studios + Building Workforce” at the Delta Blues Museum - Clarksdale, Mississippi.

The movie Sinners is creating quite the buzz around Clarksdale!🐝 🎥

Team New Roxy joins the community members inviting the Sinners team to Visit Clarksdale. 🤩

Favorite part of the movie?
Hearing Messengers Pool Hall referenced as a juke joint. 🎱 🎸

The New Roxy was built as a movie theater in the late 1940’s so it did not exist in 1932 when the film takes place, but our neighbors at Messengers Pool Hall did!

New Roxy hasn’t operated as a ‘proper’ movie theater since the early ‘80’s, but we have loved participating as a venue during the annual Clarksdale Film Festival.
(Yep that’s right, we don’t have a movie theater in town but we have a film fest!) 🎬

An open letter from the city of Clarksdale to Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan says that "We are ready," and had 4,000 signatures as of Thursday.
