❤️ AN IMPORTANT & PERSONAL UPDATE FROM Lip Smacking Eats❤️
Many of our customers know how life has thrown myself and my husband a BUNCH of unexpected Health curveballs in just the last 2 years. Well, unfortunately I am once again facing several at once right now...... After weeks of even trying to wrap my head around it all and trying to find the words to make this announcement. Because so many of you rely on our bakery for your Sourdough needs and catering I knew I needed to finallyfind the courage to get personal and share.
Over the next few weeks and months, I’ll be undergoing two major surgeries possibly four (you'll understand this later in the post), and future treatments.
The first surgery will be a full radical hysterectomy, ovaries and removal of lymph nodes to biopsy for their endometrial cancer concerns. The first initial biopsy showed the entire area covered in large precancer cells and when that is the case the odds of cancer being present and found after surgery is very high. We will not know the extent of this diagnosis for about 2 weeks after my surgery.
The second surgery shortly after the first surgery will be for an aggressive basal cell cancer on my nose. This one may be three surgeries and we will not know until that day if a skin graft and reconstruction will need to take place. If it will be needed then well, you get the point......
While I’m thankful my Oncologist who will also be my Surgeon for the Endometrial cancer stuff, and my MOHS Surgeon, has a good plan in place and is also including my Infectious Disease Dr so I don't end up with another infection that again turns into sepsis, I also know I’ll need time to recover between all these upcoming surgeries. This means our normal full menu and catering schedule will need to slow down for a bit as I navigate so much happening at once and heal between surgeries. We have had several reach out and ask how they can help and here is where they can and you CAN HELP US OUT!

Now don't worry — Lip Smacking Eats isn't disappearing we are just going to moving to a smaller more manageable menu while I go through all of this. While I have all the necessary surgeries and recover, we will be offering a limited Sourdough menu. The temporary menu will be packed with items my daughter and daughter-in-law can help me prepare, including YOUR FAVORITES like:

🌽 Our popular Sourdough Cornbreads
🫐 Our giant Bakery Muffins
🥞 Your favorite Sourdough Pancakes
❤️ And a few other selected goodies as we're able!
While I heal and await the pathology to see if it is Endometrial cancer which they suspect, then go through the next round of surgeries for skin cancer, our menu, availability, and order schedule may be a little different.

This business has been built over the last 14 years with a whole LOT of love, long hours, and most importantly, the support of YOU ALL, our amazing customers. Being able to keep a few goodies coming your way with the help of my family means MORE to me than I can express with words!

Thank you for understanding that I need to put my health first so that I can continue in the future doing what I love which is feeding our community and neighbors. Thank you for continuing to support our family during this season because right now every dollar that we bring in helps us cover these insane medical costs that we now have been faced with! Thank you to all of my customers who have encouraged me to share what is going on publicly so that more of our customers can come along side us to encourage us, pray for me, my family, and medical teams as we once again face some scary health issues. We will be releasing our final menu this weekend and I will try to get in a Pop-Up next week between pre-op appointments. Be sure to keep an eye on our page for limited menus and ordering details!
I will be having to take all of this one surgery and one step at a time. But we promise, to keep baking what we can, and I look forward to getting back to making our regular Menu and catering offerings as soon as I can!
