Dave's Red Hot

Dave's Red Hot It is unlikely that we will find any hot dog stand Chicago area that has been around since 1938.

But for more than seven decades Dave’s Red Hots has been a fixture in the Lawndale area of Roosevelt Road. First on the south side of the street, and then following a fire, they rebuilt on the north side more nearly 40 years ago. Eugene Gaines originally bought the local hot dog stand long before it had become a neighborhood fixture and eventually handed it down to his daughter, Gina Fountain; who

along with her mother, Shirley, have created and nurtured an icon by keeping the hot dogs cookin’ and the trash-talking singin’ for many years. It may not be the Taj Mahal, but Dave’s remains a vital part of the community six days a week. Whether it’s a Vienna Polish Sausage or hot dog, Gina is giving everyone a little lip with whatever they want to eat…especially during Bears season. Now, it’s Vienna’s turn to acknowledge and thank Gina and Shirley and welcome Dave’s Red Hots to the Vienna Beef Hot Dog Hall of Fame.
