March 15, 2020. The last full in house service we would ever have at our Masa Azul. Grant Handy and I handled the front of house ourselves, and KILLED IT! This is a moment I’ll treasure.

So happy that our beloved location is in the best of hands! ❤️

Like Masa Azul, the restaurant will focus on Mexican food, but the vibe will be less small plates and cocktails and more family-friendly with larger portions.

In the fall of 2011, we embarked on an incredible journey at Masa Azul. We wished to bring a greater appreciation for the beauty of the spirits and cuisine of our beloved Mexico. We hope we accomplished that goal. We were the very definition of a family business, and through the efforts of our amazing team and the love and support of our loyal guests, we lit up our corner of Diversey for nearly 10 years!
With great sadness we have reached the end of our journey. Thank you to every single person that has made these last 10 years unforgettable. Hasta pronto!

To our wonderful guests,

We recently had our ninth anniversary! It was a proud achievement that we owe to all of the wonderful guests that have supported us all these years!

Since the pandemic struck, we have tried to continue to serve you in the safest manner possible. We chose to only offer carryout this summer, though we are a restaurant and bar built on having happy crowds inside and on our patio. We made this choice for the safety of our staff and guests, as the thought of anyone getting sick on our watch kept us up at night.

While we still feel that given the pandemic this was the best answer, it has been very difficult on business. We have fought hard, as serving our guests and caring for our team is so important to us. But it has been a very uphill battle, for us and for most small restaurants and bars.

We will be open this Thursday-Sunday from 5:00-9:00pm. Sunday is National Taco Day, so our menu that day will focus on what we have always done best, delicious street tacos on our handmade tortillas! Of course our margaritas will be available to go, as well as some amazing agave spirits and liqueurs by the bottle for you to stock your home bar!

After this weekend, in an effort to hopefully rise again when the pandemic wanes, we will be hitting the pause button on our operations. We hope this is temporary, as we look forward to many more anniversaries to celebrate with you!

We hope to see you all this weekend!
