After retiring and thinking all the past memories I need to say a couple of simple sentences.
First, I have to say that I’m enjoying my retirement, finally I have a life after so many years. Restaurant and Catering business is hard, but I enjoyed serving quality to my Hyde Park Community and University of Chicago. It was a pleasure serving for 37 years to everyone from common people to notables. We served five presidents of the University. Gary Becker was my friend. The tenants of the Windermere were my family day to day basis.
Second, Hyde Park is going thru a big change. I know that many don’t like what is going on. Be patient, at the end market will adjust to your preference. Obama Library will be good for the South Side. Woodlawn needs to improve. I know all the difficulties that will cause for families that can’t afford high rentals. Alderman’s should put the pants on and defend the regular families. Unfortunately they don’t. They don’t listen. The only way is to vote but unfortunately the percentage of voting is too low. Get involved, we have a democracy that works. Feel proud and vote.
Finally, I have to say big thanks to all the messages and good memories. It was a long journey, always putting all the energy with my glorious team. I hope 56th and Cornell keep that legacy.
Love you all.
