Friday January 30th, during the National Shutdown Day, we want to be clear about where we stand. We stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Minnesota, here in Chicago, and in countless communities who have suffered and continue to demand justice, dignity, and change.
We have chosen to remain open not in opposition to this movement, but in support of our employees and our community. Our café has always been a safe, welcoming space for all—a place to gather, reflect, and support one another.
We also recognize that many people do not have the option to shut down. Many rely on us to be open, just as we rely on the strength of small businesses everywhere that had to make the difficult decision to stay open. Staying open allows us to support our staff, our neighbors, and the community members who depend on us.
We stand with those calling for justice, and we remain committed to showing up for our community in the ways we can—today and always.
