Below are the rules for the Hot Dog Contest this Friday. There is a waiver you will need to sign at the Hatch. Winner will receive a plaque and the cash prize (amount will be determined by number of contestants). A hard copy of rules and the waiver are available at the Hatch! Let's have a fun Draggin' Main celebrating 250 years of America!
HOT DOG EATING CONTEST RULES, REGULATIONS, AND WAIVER FORM
You must be 18 years of age to enter the contest.
This application must be completed in order to participate.
The rules:
* * * * * * Contestant to finish the most hot dogs in a five minute span is deemed the winner. One Hot Dog will be counted towards the participants score when one full hot dog and one full bun is consumed. For example: If a competitor eats a bun, but none or partial of the dog, that counts for zero and vice versa. When the five minute time limit is up, contestants may not put any additional hot dog or buns in their mouths. Contestants will have 30 seconds to swallow what is in their mouths. Any contents remaining in contestant’s mouths at the end of 30 seconds will not be counted. There will be no partial hot dogs added to an Competitors score, only fully consumed hot dog and buns. Participants are allowed water to aid with eating, dipping, or drenching.
Competitors can dunk hot dogs and buns in cups for no longer than five seconds. Only water can be consumed during the competition.
Competitors will have five hot dogs and buns plated in front of them. Competitors must finish one plate and move on to their next plate.
Competitors must swallow the hot dog in order for it to count.
Competitors are not allowed to use utensils.
Competitors are allowed to deconstruct the hot dog, or eat the bun and meat separately. Hot dog and bun can be separated. For example: Competitors are allowed to take the dog and snap it in any way they would like, they can also snap the bun anyway.
Condiments are optional.
* Contestants must keep their food down for the duration of the contest to be counted. If a competitor cannot keep their food down, they are disqualified.
In the event of a tie, there will be a three hot dog “eat-off,” which is a race to see who can eat the three fastest. During the three hot dog "eat-off," The person who eats the hot dogs the fastest will be named the winner.
