Ladies and Gentlemen,
I would like to address an issue that is important to the integrity and operation of this VFW Post.
This organization was founded by veterans and continues to be led by veterans. The men and women who have served our nation have earned not only our respect, but also the right to guide the direction of this Post. Their experience, sacrifice, and commitment are the foundation upon which this organization stands.
While we welcome ideas, suggestions, and constructive feedback from all members and supporters, there is a proper way to express disagreement. No member of this Post, and especially the Commander, will be subjected to berating, disrespectful, or demeaning behavior simply because a decision was made or a change was implemented that someone did not personally agree with.
Leadership often requires making decisions that may not satisfy everyone. Disagreement is a natural part of any organization. However, respect must remain constant. Personal attacks, raised voices, and attempts to undermine leadership have no place in a veterans' organization built on honor, discipline, and mutual respect.
The Commander and elected officers have been entrusted with the responsibility of leading this Post. Their decisions are made with the best interests of the organization, its members, and its mission in mind. Suggestions from others are always welcome and will be taken under advisement, but they remain suggestions. The final authority rests with the leadership elected by the membership and guided by the values of this organization.
Let us remember why we are here. We are here to support veterans, serve our community, and preserve the legacy of those who wore the uniform of this nation. That mission is best accomplished when we treat one another with dignity and respect, even when opinions differ.
Going forward, all discussions should be conducted in a professional and respectful manner. We can disagree without being disagreeable. We can debate without disrespecting. And we can work together while honoring the veterans whose service made this organization possible.
Thank you.
Respectfully Bryan Childs.
