“Go to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples” is the task given to the Christian church by the resurrected Christ. This task is literally being carried forward through centuries by the church. The task entrusted to the church, in turn has become the education process of its members, with the formation of Christian church. Changes were visible in the methodology, from the systematic learning process derived from the Jewish traditions. But the content of Christian education has not been changed. It is actually sharing the act of Salvation of Jesus Christ, to the learner. The word “Christian education” cannot simply be restricted to the Sunday school education alone. It is a process which involves the faithfuls of all ages of the church. From kids to the elderly, all are to be brought into the domain of Christian education. Because, no age bar has been assigned as far as measuring the degree of knowledge about God is concerned. “Grow upto Christ, the head” should be followed till the end of one’s life. But in this article, the use of Christian education is limited to the Sunday school education only. It is praiseworthy that there existed a well arranged Sunday school curriculum, with the formation of Sunday school Samajam (1905).It was arranged in the Kerala context. In the beginning (during the times of Very Rev. Mammen Kasseesa), syllabus was made available to the Sunday schools through Sandarshini. In due course of time, it has come in the printed format and was circulated to Sunday schools. “Being God’s people in God’s world” is the theme which had its birth at the time of Rev. Iype Joseph and later got it published during the time of Rev. Dr. Moni Mathew. This syllabus which was developed, based on the intelligence level of the children of various age groups, was in the “concentric circle” format. Teachers are to examine the various stages of growth level of the child and accordingly each lesson has to be communicated to the child. The current curriculum which has been in existence for the past 19 years could help the children of 3 generations to grow, nurture and confirm in the Word of God. (As we know, existing curriculum was in 3 volumes).Even though God’s love revealed through Jesus Christ remains unchanged, the necessary changes to be made in the mode of communication is requirement of the present era. With the evolution of Science & technology, the existing teaching methodology and approach are to be modified. Gone are the days when teachers were considered as the sole treasure of knowledge. With the availability of modern Science & technology (internet etc), children have also become sources of knowledge. Knowledge is now available to all, at their finger tips. Hence the best way is that of teachers and students learning together. When students get participation in the process of learning, learning becomes interesting and joyful. Learning should become internalizing the topics. Then learning will become a lively experience and not a burden. In this sort of learning process, teachers should become helpers and facilitators of the children, respecting their personalities and giving them inspiration. Here teachers have to keep themselves more up-to-date, by regular reading. Like children, teachers should also find out the unknown things by searching and then confirming the same with the help of others. Then mutuality and cooperation will be possible. This process will raise the teaching standard and student will get energized. Thus each class will become livelier. The new curriculum of Sunday school Samajam is carved out in the above explained style. “Transformation through the Word of God” is the common theme, based on which the curriculum is set up. The main challenging exhortation at the 175th Annual meeting, to coincide with the Reformation of our church was “to come back to the Word of God”. Christian education is not formation but is transformation. Word of God is not forming but transforming the faithfuls. The writer of Hebrews writes about the power of Word of God, as: “The Word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword. It cuts all the way through, to where soul and spirit meet, to where joints and marrow come together. It judges the desires and thoughts of man’s heart”. Formation is the change brought out by human efforts and knowledge, in a purposeful way. With the available curriculum, teachers are trying for the formation of children, through the already laid out procedures. Children and community are being formed in the way the people who prepare the curriculum wish them to be. Formation makes sure that statusquo is maintained with regard to the existing formalities and social statutes, without any hindrance. There involves some sort of a standardization process. Even though the curriculum, which helps in the transformation, is man-made, it is established by the help of Holy Spirit. In the above process of sharing knowledge, teachers and students are transformed by the Holy Spirit. Since transformation is the work of Holy Spirit, it causes destruction of the existing conditions and life gets transformed to a level, which is inaccessible to the human minds. Holy Spirit is the spirit which leads to the eternal truth. The life struggles, contradictions, problems etc being developed in the lives of students and teachers, who are participating in this learning process, are transformed with the invoking of Holy Spirit. The involvement of Holy Spirit results in the transformation of personal, social, cultural and humane aspects of those who participate in this Christian education. The real teacher in the Christian education process, where word of God is communicated, is the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit enlightens the known, the unknown, the dark and the bright areas of individuals. This education is not just gaining the knowledge, but it leads to consciousness and realization. Through this new curriculum, what is to be achieved is not the formation of the child, but the transformation of teachers and students who are participating in this Christian education process.

ക്രിസ്തു സഭയ്ക്ക് ഉയിര്ത്തെഴുറ്റേ യേശുക്രിസ്തു നല്കിയ നിയോഗമാണ് 'സകല ജാതികളെയും ശിഷ്യരാക്കുക' എത്. ഈ നിയോഗം ശിരസ്സാവഹിച്ച് സഭ നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകളിലൂടെ നിര്വ്വഹിച്ചുപോരുു. സഭ നിറവേറ്റിപ്പോരു നിയോഗം കാലാന്തരത്തില് സഭാംഗങ്ങളുടെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ പ്രവര്ത്തനമായി പരിണമിച്ചു. യഹൂദാ പാരമ്പര്യത്തില് നി് ഉള്ക്കൊണ്ട ക്രമീകൃതമായ അഭ്യസന രീതിക്ക് ക്രിസ്തു സഭയുടെ ആവിര്ഭാവത്തോടെ രീതി ശാസ്ത്രത്തില് (ങലവേീറീഹീഴ്യ) വ്യത്യാസങ്ങള് വി'ുണ്ട്. എാല് ക്രിസ്തീയ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിന്റെ ഉള്ളടക്കത്തിനു മാറ്റം വി'ില്ല. അത് യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ രക്ഷാകരപ്രവര്ത്തനം പഠിതാവിനു പകരുകയെതാണ്.
ക്രിസ്തീയ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം എ വാക്ക് സണ്ടേസ്ക്കൂള് അഭ്യസനത്തില് മാത്രം പരിമിതപ്പെടുത്തുവാനാവില്ല. സഭയിലെ എല്ലാ പ്രായത്തിലുമുള്ള വിശ്വാസികളെയും ഉള്ക്കൊള്ളു പ്രവര്ത്തനമാണ്. ആബാലവൃദ്ധജനങ്ങളെയും ക്രിസ്തീയ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ പരിധിയില് കൊണ്ടുവരേണ്ടതാണ്. കാരണം ദൈവത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള അറിവ് നിജപ്പെടുത്തുതിന് പ്രായപരിധി നിശ്ചയിക്കുവാന് കഴിയില്ലല്ലോ. 'ക്രിസ്തുവാകു തലയോളം വളരുക' എത് മനുഷ്യജീവിതാവസാനം വരെ തുടരേണ്ടതാണ്. എാല് ഈ ലേഖനത്തില് ക്രിസ്തീയ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം എ പ്രയോഗം സഡേസ്കൂള് വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തെയാണ് വിവക്ഷിക്കുത്.
മാര്ത്തോമ്മാ സഡേസ്കൂള് സമാജത്തിന്റെ ആവിര്ഭാവത്തോടെ (1905) ക്രമീകൃതമായ സഡേസ്കൂള് പാഠാവലി ഉണ്ടായിരുുവെത് പ്രശംസനീയമാണ്. പ്രസ്തുത പാഠാവലി തദ്ദേശീയമായി ക്രമീകരിക്കപ്പെ'തുമായിരുു. ആരംഭത്തില് (വെരി. റവ.വി.പി. മാമ്മന് കശ്ശീശ്ശായുടെ കാലഘ'ം) സന്ദര്ശനിയിലൂടെ സഡേസ്കൂളില് പാഠാവലി ലഭ്യമാക്കിയെങ്കില് കാലക്രമേണ അത് പ്രത്യേകം അച്ചടിച്ച് വിതരണം ചെയ്തുതുടങ്ങി. റവ ഡോ. ഐപ്പ് ജോസഫ് അച്ചന്റെ കാലഘ'ത്തില് ആരംഭിച്ച് റവ. ഡോ. മോനി മാത്യു അച്ചന്റെ കാലഘ'ത്തില് പുറത്തിറക്കിയ പാഠാവലിയാണ് 'ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ലോകത്തില് ദൈവജനമായിരിക്കുക'എത്. ചാക്രിക (ഇീിരലിൃേശര ഇശൃരഹല) മായ രീതിയില് ക്രമീകരിക്കപ്പെ' പാഠാവലി ഓരോ പ്രായത്തിലുമുള്ള കു'ികളുടെ ബൗദ്ധികതലത്തെ ഗൗരവമായി കണക്കിലെടുത്ത് ക്രമീകരിച്ചതായിരുു. അദ്ധ്യാപകര് കു'ിയുടെ വളര്ച്ചയുടെ ഘ'ങ്ങളെ സൂക്ഷ്മമായി പരിശോധിച്ച് ഓരോ പാഠവും സംവേദനം ചെയ്യേണ്ടതാണ്.
പത്തൊന്പതു വര്ഷം പിിടു നിലവിലു ള്ള പാഠാവലി മൂു തലമുറയിലെ കു'ികളെ ദൈവവചനത്തില് വളര്ത്തുതിനും, പരിപാലിക്കുതിനും, ഉറപ്പിക്കുതിനും ഇടയാക്കി (നിലവിലുള്ള പാഠാവലി മൂു വാല്യമായിരുുവെ് പ്രസ്താവിക്ക'െ). യേശുക്രിസ്തുവില് വെളിപ്പെ' ദൈവസ്നേഹത്തിനു മാറ്റം ഇല്ലെങ്കിലും, അത് സംവേദനം ചെയ്യപ്പെടു രീതിയില് മാറ്റം വരുത്തേണ്ടത് കാലഘ'ത്തിന്റെ ആവശ്യമാണ്. ശാസ്ത്ര സാങ്കേതിക വിദ്യയുടെ ആവിര്ഭാവത്തോടെ നിലവില് സഡേസ്കൂളില് തുടരു ബോധന രീതിക്കും, അദ്ധ്യാപക സമീപനത്തിലും മാറ്റം വരേണ്ടതാണ്. ഒരു ഘ'ത്തില് അദ്ധ്യാപകര് അറിവിന്റെ കേന്ദ്രമായി പരിഗണിക്കപ്പെ'ിരുു. എാല് ശാസ്ത്ര സാങ്കേതിക വിദ്യയുടെ ലഭ്യത (ഇന്റര് നെറ്റ് മുതലായവ) സാധ്യമായതോടുകൂടി കു'ികളും അറിവിന്റെ സങ്കേതങ്ങളായി തീര്ുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുു. അറിവ് ഇ് ഏവര്ക്കും വിരല്ത്തുമ്പില് ലഭ്യമായിരിക്കുു. ആയതിനാല് അദ്ധ്യാപകരും വിദ്യാര്ത്ഥികളും ഒരുമിച്ച് പഠിക്കു രീതിയാണ് അഭികാമ്യം. വിദ്യാര്ത്ഥികള്ക്ക് പഠനത്തില് പങ്കാളിത്തം ലഭിക്കുമ്പോള് പഠനം ആസ്വാദ്യ കരവും ആനന്ദകരവുമായിത്തീരും. പഠനം കാണാതെ, പരീക്ഷയ്ക്ക് പഠിക്കാനാവാതെ വിഷയങ്ങള് ആത്മനിഷ്ഠമായി സ്വാംശീകരിക്ക(കിലേൃിമഹശ്വല) പ്പെടുതാകണം. അപ്പോള് പഠനം വിദ്യാര്ത്ഥികള്ക്ക് ബാധ്യതയാകാതെ അനുഭവമായിത്തീരുകയും ജീവിതഗന്ധിയാകുകയും ചെയ്യും. ഇത്തരം പഠന പ്രക്രിയയില് അദ്ധ്യാപകര് വിദ്യാര്ത്ഥികളുടെ സ്വത്വത്തെ ആദരിച്ച് അവര്ക്കു വേണ്ട പ്രചോദനം പകരു സഹായിയും വഴികാ'ിയും (എമരശഹശമേീേൃ) ആകണം. ഇവിടെ അദ്ധ്യാപകര് കൂടുതല് വായിക്കുവരും തങ്ങളെത്ത െഡുറമലേ ചെയ്യുവരുമായിരിക്കണം. തങ്ങള്ക്ക് അറിവില്ലാത്ത വിവരങ്ങള് വിദ്യാര്ത്ഥികളെപ്പോലെ അന്വേഷിച്ചു കണ്ടെത്തുകയും, മറ്റുള്ളവരോട് ചോദിച്ച് ബോധ്യപ്പെടുകയും വേണം. അപ്പോള് തമ്മില് തമ്മില് അന്യോന്യതയും (ങൗൗേമഹശ്യേ) സഹകരണവും സാധ്യമാകും. പ്രസ്തുത പ്രക്രിയ അദ്ധ്യാപകരുടെ നിലവാരം ഉയര്ത്തുകയും പഠിതാവില് ഊര്ജ്ജസ്വലത കൈവരുത്തുകയും ചെയ്യും. അങ്ങനെ ഓരോ ക്ലാസ്സും ജീവസ്സുറ്റതാകും.
സഡേസ്കൂള് സമാജത്തിന്റെ പുതിയ പാഠ്യക്രമം മേല്വിവരിച്ച രീതി ഉള്ക്കൊള്ളുതാണ്. 'ദൈവവചനത്തിലൂടെയുള്ള രൂപാന്തരം' എ പൊതു വിഷയത്തെ അടിസ്ഥാനപ്പെടുത്തിയാണ് പാഠ്യക്രമം ചി'പ്പെടുത്തുത്. സഭയുടെ നവീകരണത്തിന്റെ 175-ാം വാര്ഷിക സമാപനയോഗത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാന സന്ദേശം ദൈവവചനത്തിലേക്ക് മടങ്ങുക എ വെല്ലുവിളിയായിരുു. ക്രിസ്തീയ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം രൂപപ്പെടുത്തലല്ല പ്രത്യുത രൂപാന്തരപ്പെടുത്തലാണ്. ദൈവവചനം മനുഷ്യരെ രൂപപ്പെടുത്തുകയല്ല, രൂപാന്തരപ്പെടുത്തുകയാണ്. ദൈവവചനത്തിന്റെ ശക്തിയെക്കുറിച്ച് എബ്രായ ലേഖന കര്ത്താവ് വ്യക്തമാക്കുു: 'ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വചനം ജീവനും ചൈതന്യമുള്ളതായി ഇരുവായ്ത്തലയുള്ള ഏതു വാളിനെക്കാളും മൂര്ച്ചയേറിയതും പ്രാണനെയും ആത്മാവിനെയും സന്ധിമജ്ജകളെയും വേര്വിടുവിക്കുംവരെ തുളച്ചുചെല്ലുതും ഹൃദയത്തിലെ ചിന്തനങ്ങളെയും ഭാവങ്ങളെയും വിവേചിക്കുതും ആകുു' (എബ്രാ. 4:12)
രൂപപ്പെടുത്തല് (എീൃാമശേീി) മനുഷ്യ പ്രയത്നത്താലും അറിവിനാലും ബോധപൂര്വ്വം സൃഷ്ടിക്കു മാറ്റമാണ്. അദ്ധ്യാപകര് തങ്ങള്ക്ക് ലഭ്യമാക്കിയിരിക്കു പാഠ്യപദ്ധതിയുടെ സഹായത്തോടെ മുന്നിശ്ചയിക്കപ്പെ' വ്യവസ്ഥാപിത രീതികളോടെ വിദ്യാര്ത്ഥികളെ രൂപപ്പെടുത്തുവാന് ശ്രമിക്കുകയാണ്. പാഠ്യ പദ്ധതി തയ്യാറാക്കുവര് മുന്നിശ്ചയിക്കുവണ്ണം വിദ്യാര്ത്ഥികളെയും സമൂഹങ്ങളെയും ആക്കിത്തീര്ക്കുകയാണ്. കീഴ്വഴക്കങ്ങള്ക്കു സമൂഹത്തില് നിലനില്ക്കു വ്യവസ്ഥിതികള്ക്കും (ടമേൗേലേ) പ്രശ്നങ്ങള് സംഭവിക്കാതെ നിലനിര്ത്തു സംവിധാനമാണ് രൂപപ്പെടുത്തല്. ഒരുതരം ടമേിറമൃറശ്വമശേീി പ്രക്രിയ അതില് അടങ്ങിയി'ുണ്ട്.
എാല് രൂപാന്തരം സാധ്യമാക്കുതിനു ഉപയോഗിക്കപ്പെടു പാഠ്യപദ്ധതി മനുഷ്യനിര്മ്മിതമാണെങ്കിലും അത് നടപ്പിലാക്കുത് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവാണ്. അറിവ് പങ്കുവയ്ക്കു പ്രസ്തുത പദ്ധതിയില് അദ്ധ്യാപകരും വിദ്യാര്ത്ഥികളും ദൈവാത്മാവിനാല് രൂപാന്തരപ്പെടുു. രൂപാന്തരം പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിന്റെ പ്രവര്ത്തനമാകുകയാല് നിലവിലെ വ്യവസ്ഥകളുടെ തകര്ച്ച സംഭവിക്കുകയും മനുഷ്യമനസ്സുകള്ക്ക് അപ്രാപ്യമായ രീതിയില് ജീവിതം രൂപാന്തരപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്യുു. പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവ് സകല സത്യത്തിലേക്കും വഴി നടത്തു ആത്മാവാണ്. ആയതിനാല് പാഠ്യപദ്ധതിയില് പങ്കാളിയാകു അദ്ധ്യാപകരുടെയും വിദ്യാര്ത്ഥികളുടെയും ജീവിത സംഘര്ഷങ്ങള്, വൈരുദ്ധ്യങ്ങള്, പ്രശ്നങ്ങള് എ ിവ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മ സംവാദത്താല് രൂപാന്തരപ്പെടുകയും, പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിന്റെ ഇടപെടല് ക്രിസ്തീയ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തില് പങ്കാളിയാകുവരുടെ വൈ യക്തിക - സാമൂഹിക, സാംസ്കാരിക, ജൈവമണ്ഡലങ്ങളെ രൂപാന്തരപ്പെടുത്തി ജീവിതത്തിന് ക്രിസ്തുവില് പുതിയ ദിശാബോധം നല്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.
ദൈവവചന സംവേദനം നിര്വ്വഹിക്കപ്പെടു ക്രിസ്തീയ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ പ്രക്രിയയില് പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവാണ് യഥാര്ത്ഥ അദ്ധ്യാപകന്. പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവ് മനുഷ്യരുടെ അറിയപ്പെടുതും അറിയപ്പെടാത്തതും, ഇരു'ുള്ളതും പ്രകാശമുള്ളതുമായ ഇടങ്ങളെ പ്രശോഭിതമാക്കും. പ്രസ്തുത പഠനം കേവലം അറിവ് പകരുക മാത്രമല്ല, സുബോധത്തിലേക്ക് അഥവാ തിരിച്ചറിവിലേക്ക് നയിക്കുതുമാണ്. പുതിയ പാഠ്യപദ്ധതിയിലൂടെ കു'ിയുടെ രൂപപ്പെടലല്ല, ക്രിസ്തീയ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ പ്രക്രിയയില് ഏര്പ്പെടു അദ്ധ്യാപകരുടെയും കു'ികളുടെയും രൂപാന്തരപ്പെടലാണ് സാധ്യമാകുത്.
