Some are written in your hands. Some in your spirit. 🤍

The woman in these photos taught me that food is never just food. It’s care. It’s memory. It’s dignity. It’s making sure everyone at the table feels seen before you ever sit down yourself.

This video is of my mother teaching my niece how to make Creole Stuffed Bell Peppers, a dish that has lived in our family kitchen for generations. Even while fighting cancer, she still insists on making Christmas dinner every year, just like she always has. That kind of love changes people. It shaped the way I cook, the way I serve others, and the way we approach hospitality at Neutral Ground.

The older photo feels like a time capsule from another era. The newer ones feel like the same song, just carried into another generation. 🕯️🍲

Happy Mother’s Day to my mother, and to all the women whose love can be tasted long after the plates are cleared.
