🐦 FRIDAY: PROJECT BLUEBIRD
Making their Birdcage debut with a seriously fun mix of rock, blues, funk & jazz-fusion, heavy on the grooves and live improvisation. Come meet the new birds in the Cage.

🎸 SATURDAY: MATT HORN & THE MUSICAL SUSPECTS
Back by popular demand, because apparently we just can’t keep these Suspects away. And we’re perfectly fine with that.

The weather? Pretty damn nice for October.
Low 70s around opening time, cooling into the 60s as the music gets going. Bring a layer and settle in.

🌧️ WELL… THAT’S A WASH. 🌧️

Mother Nature wins this round.

Unfortunately, tonight’s Birdcage festivities with Half Dead are officially rained out. Apparently cocktails, live music, and electricity are all more fun when they’re not underwater. 😬

BUT, we’re already working on getting Half Dead back in the cage, hopefully next Saturday 10/10 or 10/17. 🤞🎶

Stay tuned and we’ll let you know as soon as we get it locked in.

Until then… stay dry, Charlottesville. We’ll save you a tiki drink. 🍹🦜

Two nights. Two very different flavors. One Birdcage. 🦜

Friday we’re kicking off the weekend with The Meraki Project, a Charlottesville indie-rock trio bringing a little Radiohead/Modern Baseball energy to the deck. And this one’s extra special because one of the guys is part of the Mockingbird/Birdcage family.
Come out, make us look supportive, and definitely don’t embarrass him. 😏

☀️ Friday’s looking downright summery in the mid-80s, so consider this your excuse for one more warm-weather night at the Cage.

Then Saturday, things get a little more… Dead. 💀🌹

Half Dead takes over with two sets of Grateful Dead tunes and live improvisational jams. Temps drop into the mid-60s, which sounds suspiciously like perfect outdoor-music-with-a-drink weather. Bring a layer. Stay for another song.

We’re celebrating the Class of 2027 with a special 3-course Grad Weekend menu, because this milestone deserves more than an ordinary dinner. The regular menu will not be available.

Two seatings: 5:00 PM & 7:30 PM
Three courses with choices for each course | $65 per person

SATURDAY May 22nd
4:00 PM ~ Special early seating with a limited menu of 3 courses with choice of main course only (set salad & dessert) | $58 per person

Well… Mother Nature came through this morning and chose violence.

This morning’s storms wreaked a little too much havoc on the Birdcage, so unfortunately we’ll be CLOSED tonight while we clean up her mess and get our little tropical paradise put back together.

Apparently she was not on the schedule, but showed up anyway. 🙄

We’ll get the Cage back in fighting shape and see y’all soon.

BREAKING: Local tiki bar loses battle with giant ball of fire in the sky. ☀️🔥

Due to the projected heat advisory and predicted storms , The Birdcage will be closing tonight. We will try again tomorrow with Matt Horn & The Musical Suspects.

Please spend the evening somewhere air-conditioned, drink lots of water, and think tropical thoughts on our behalf. We’ll reopen as soon as Mother Nature stops trying to turn Charlottesville into the surface of the sun. 🌴🥵🍹
