🚨 CLOSING ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨
Dear cherished community,

With a mix of emotions, we find ourselves at a crossroad that marks both an ending and a new beginning for our 23-year legacy. It is with heavy hearts yet hopeful spirits that we announce the closure of La’ Wan’s Soul Food Restaurant on Sunday August 27th, 2023.

From the very first day we opened our doors, it has been an incredible journey filled with growth, learning, and most importantly, the unwavering support of all of you. Your loyalty has been the driving force behind every step we’ve taken. You have not just been customers, but a part of our extended family.

The decision to close our doors was not made lightly. We have faced unforeseen challenges that have made it increasingly difficult to continue operating at the level of excellence that you deserve. As many of you know our owner Kenneth Adams passed away recently after losing his battle with stage 4 colon cancer. Kenneth’s unwavering dedication, passion, and innovative spirit has been the driving force behind our journey. As we navigate this difficult time, we also embrace the opportunities ahead. As we embark on this new adventure, Kenneth’s legacy will always be kept alive.

Our social media channels will remain active for the foreseeable future, and we encourage you to stay connected with us. We will continue to share updates and insights as we move into new endeavors.

To our team members, both past and present, we extend our deepest gratitude. Your dedication and passion have been the backbone of this business, and we are truly honored to have worked alongside each one of you. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts for being a part of our journey and La’ Wan’s family.

We are humbled by the memories we’ve created together and the impact we’ve had on each other’s lives. As we close this chapter, we hold onto the hope that our paths will cross again in the future.

We would love to thank everyone for their support this weekend. Kenny was sent off surrounded by so many family members, friends, restaurant family and classmates. He deserved every minute of that service and we’re so grateful that Pastor Stanley Davis and Reverend Ray Shuler sent him off in the best way possible. My family and I would love to thank everyone for the love and support during this difficult time. I know we haven’t responded to everyone or made contact, but we’re all still processing this past weekend. The response we’ve received regarding my dad’s passing has been overwhelming in the best way possible. The day after, we woke up to over 200 posts, messages and comments all about your wonderful experiences with him and his crazy self. His beautiful spirit was spread far and wide and it’s so amazing to feel and see. The stories and posts we’ve been reading about your interactions with him keep us smiling everyday and we appreciate it so much.

We know our dad was an extended dad to many, friend, uncle and mentor so we want to open the services for you to come and spread love on his resting day. As we continue to finalize his arrangements, we’ll be sure to keep you all updated. Thank you all so much! 💕

Kenneth Adams, my husband of 27 years passed away peacefully early
Sunday morning at the age of 61 after a 3 year battle with colorectal cancer. He was surrounded by his loved ones and he fought until the very end. His legacy will live on because he impacted so many people with his wisdom, humor and guidance. He was a loving husband, best friend, girl dad and pop pop until the end. He was also a real man and father to so many people from all walks of life and he continued to be a mentor up until his health declined. He was personable and never met a stranger. He often had conversations with his favorite people at Restaurant Depot, Sam’s Club and the Chef Store.
I am beyond proud to represent him, because he was an amazing human being with many talents and he loved life and his family to the fullest. I pray that in the days ahead, our family will find peace from laughing at all of his Bernie Mac impersonations while also reliving all of the up close and personal restaurant moments with our restaurant family, in which we always say “never a dull moment and we can’t make this s*** up”. You earned your wings so as you SOAR HIGH across heaven, say hello to all of our family and friends and let God know you have some skills in the kitchen and you are ready to feed some folks a real southern feast. Continue to watch over the village that you created here on earth and we know that our new normal in life will be a better place because of your existence. You will have a special place in my heart always and forever. Rest in Paradise until we meet again my love. 🕊️
