The pictures say it all. Happy seven to the little pink bakery. The absolute hardest thing ive ever done. Thank you for showing up and letting us serve you Charlotte.
I adore seeing you, meeting you, seeing your stories, your babies grow up in-front of me, your weddings, all of it. I do it for the peeps I work with. Im thankful for the space ive created, the people that come and go and very important, im so freakin proud to be in that 9% of hispanic business owners. This little honduran girl would have never DREAMED that this would be my story. Thank you! Here’s to at least one more year!

Find a friend or couple of friends that are in the same season. You opened a business at the same time. Your businesses are similar. Youre both women owned small businesses. Youre both coffee shop owners. Whatever it is. Its like parenthood, we want an ally when our kid isnt sleeping thru the night and you wanna rip your hair out. Having an ally at work as a SBO will allow you to have a space to ask questions, vent and commiserate with people in the same season.

My hardest fc/$@ lesson to learn. I think I can push all the boundaries of my capacity because “I can do it all” mentality. But friend, treat yourself like youd treat your kid or best friend. Drink water. Have lists (so you dont have to rely on your memory). Go for walks without a phone (10-15 mins will do). The world will certainly go on if youre out of commission for a day or afternoon of rest. Im 7 years in and I still fail at this weekly. But I keep trying.

Attn all small businesses owners. Im surely going to be widely unpopular for this and I mean absolutely no judgement here just encouragement to do it if its in your capacity (not everyone is and THATS OK TOO, you can do something else in this mindset)! I dont want to work on thanksgiving or the day after, guess what im not making my staff do it either. Ive been paying holidays days off since day 1, im not a millionaire but I have zero regrets. People over profit. Take out the trash. Work upfront. Know how to do everything before you ask someone else to do it. Except accounting!!!! 🤭 I have the bestest accountant and only she can keep me in line and have the patience of mother theresa with me.

You started this. Its because you see something no one else can. Trust your gut. Dont speak out of anger (ive had a few lessons here too) but also always know your voice matters, stand up for what you believe in.

Went to the Gorillaz concert this week and you cant take a girl anywhere!! I had such fun!!! The 13 yr old cris listening to Clint Eastwood and realizing “im sad!!/ but im also happy!!/ its ok/ im ok!!” Music is so powerful it gives us space to freely be and realize things about ourselves❤️ anyways it was such a sweet full circle moment for me this week seeing them live and singing off the top of my lungs! Tell me, do you have a song like this?! Or also tell me what did you eat from batch this week? I had (no judgies): a pb reeses sugar cookie (in its entirety), coffee cake, a puddle, cinny biscuit, croissant cinnamon roll (YESUS), and I have a nutella croissant for tomo! Yowza thats a roll call but what did you have?!

Ways you can celebrate hispanic heritage month alongside us: play spanish music around the house, play bluey or any cartoon your kid ALWAYS WATCHES in spanish!, go to the library and check out books about different hispanic countries, learn learn learn, support hispanic owned and operated businesses, go to events this weekend and month that celebrate our culture, try a new restaurant that serves latin food, go to compare o el rey and peruse a hispanic grocery store!
