With two locations in Charlotte, North Carolina, for nearly 20 years, Boardwalk Billy’s has been a local favorite spot for enjoying fresh seafood, award-winning BBQ, and southern hospitality. We have outside patio seating—our University location even overlooks the lake—so think of us when that beautiful North Carolina weather begs you to spend some time outside with a cold drink. Stop in to relax with a craft beer and a plate of Alaskan Snow Crab legs or slow-smoked Eastern Carolina BBQ pulled pork. With a menu covering all the bases, there is something for every taste—even vegetarian and gluten-free options. Both locations also feature their own weekly specials and different takes on the menu. Our name says “Raw Bar & Ribs”, but don’t overlook our smokehouse wings—a customer favorite.

Someone has to be in charge around here. Unfortunately we found him.
Meet Jamie Jenkins, owner of Boardwalk Billy’s. We asked him a few questions so you can get to know the guy behind it all!
Who’s your favorite employee? “Lucas. He’s a grumpy old man who just shows up and gets it down. He’s our Production Manager so he ensures our s**t is right, day in and day out. Lucas mumbles and bi***es but I know he loves the place and loves his team!”
What’s your favorite meal to get at Billy’s? “Q3 if I’m feeling fatty! Crab legs, if I ever had the time to sit and enjoy them. I’ve eaten a million chicken fingers though; they’re irresistible!”
What’s your favorite drink here? “Hmmmm hard to answer. I love bourbon and know our Old Fashioned is prepared exactly the way I like them. Hard to beat a piña colada with dark rum on a hot day! And the Boss Margarita- how can you go wrong with Patron and Grand Marnier? They just go down a little too easily…”
Would you rather let your employees choose your haircut or your outfit for a month? “Outfit- don’t f**k with my hair!”
Which employee would you trust to hide a body? “Hiding a body? A truly odd question, I plead the fifth…. No question, Mike. He’s already hidden six for me!”
What’s exactly do you do here? “I’m trying to transition into the role of overseer. I am working to develop leadership under me to facilitate that move. But I’m also the glue. My heart is BOH (back of house), so I remember the folks that are behind the scenes (doing the really hard s**t). But I transitioned successfully, from BOH to FOH (front of house) in college. I try to teach the servers/bartenders what I learned that made the transition possible. PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE. I can’t be comfortable not knowing the details of what I’m trying to convince my guests to buy. I want to provide them with what works for them, so knowing nuances makes the world of difference! Know your s**t!
