🍦❤️ Since 1940, Dairy Queen Has Been Serving More Than Ice Cream. We’ve Been Making Memories.
When the very first Dairy Queen opened its doors in 1940, something magical happened. A simple little ice cream shop became an overnight sensation, introducing families to a delicious new treat called soft serve.
For the young couple managing that first shop, it was a “dream come true.” What they may not have realized was that their little dream would become part of the American story — a tradition of sweet treats, smiling faces, and memories shared across generations.
More than 85 years later, that dream is still alive. ❤️
Think about it. How many childhood summers have been made sweeter by a trip to Dairy Queen? How many first dates, Little League victories, family outings, and after-school adventures have ended with a Blizzard, a dipped cone, or a favorite sundae?
For so many of us, Dairy Queen isn’t just a place to get ice cream. It’s a little piece of childhood we get to revisit, a familiar taste that takes us back to simpler days, and a place where new memories are waiting to be made.
🌴 Here in Charleston, South Carolina, we’re proud to carry that tradition forward.
At our locally owned Dairy Queen on Folly Road, we believe the magic of DQ has always been about more than what’s on the menu. It’s about the people who walk through our doors, the friendships we build, the families we serve, and the community we’re blessed to call home.
From James Island and West Ashley to Mount Pleasant, Johns Island, Folly Beach, and communities throughout the Charleston area, we want to be part of the moments that make life a little sweeter.
Our commitment is simple: Preserve the flavors you remember, the friendliness you deserve, and the traditions that make Dairy Queen special — while creating new reasons for our community to come together.
Because some things are simply too good to leave in the past.
The world has changed a lot since 1940. But the joy of sharing something delicious with someone you love? That’s timeless.
🍦 Here’s to yesterday’s memories, today’s smiles, and tomorrow’s traditions.
From our DQ family to yours, thank you, Charleston, for letting us be a little part of your story. ❤️
Now we’d love to hear yours! What’s your earliest Dairy Queen memory? Was it a dipped cone with your grandparents, a Blizzard after school, or a family tradition you still enjoy today? Tell us in the comments! 👇
