Red Lion Inn 50th Anniversary Reunion Red Lion Inn 50th Anniversary Reunion We'll see you at The City Center, 505 S Chestnut St, Champaign, IL for two days of nostalgic music and familiar friends.

October 7 & 8 will be an excellent time to see some of your favorite bands that played at the Red Lion Inn, see old friends, and have a blast! Tickets available at The City Center; $20 for one day and $30 for both days (your best value). A $40 per night VIP ticket includes upped deck preferred seating, exclusive bar, restrooms and food options. Proceeds will benefit The Alice Campbell Alumni Center's planned exhibit on U of I student life throughout the decades, and in this case, more specifically, Night Life with our efforts focused on The Red Lion Inn. Matt now based in Nashville after a long tenure in Los Angeles, is an award-winning songwriter with two critically acclaimed releases: Bullies in the Backyard (2022), Above Ground Fools (2017), and his newly released album, Savoy. Matt has long roots in the area having grown up in Champaign-Urbana As a songwriter and drummer, he has recorded and performed with Maria McKee of Lone Justice, Peter Case, Blondie Chaplin, Mink Stole, Andy Prieboy, and Stuart Mathis of The Wallflowers. Dave and LA had the privilege of interviewing Matt ahead of his upcoming Album Release Show at the Rose Bowl on October 24th. Matt is super excited about his new album stating, "It's The Best Sounding Album I've ever done!" Tonight September 27th at 7pm CST it's Home Grown KIO Episode #268 hosted by David Leake & LA Fredrickson with a Very Special Show!. Many of you will recall a spectacular horn band in the mid 90's that was based out of Champaign-Urbana called "My Brother's Keeper!" Amazing musicians that split up way to early. Most of the members continued on with their own musical endeavors. The outstanding lead Vocalist, Bobby Alcott, moved back to Detroit with his wife, started a family and became a professional photographer. Fast forward to around 10 years ago. Bobby and family had relocated to New Jersey across the river from New York City. He became aware of a fantastic Producer/Musician from Moscow Russia that loved the music of Chicago as much as he did. Quite the long story short, Bobby Alcott is now one of the permanent lead vocalists for the fantastic Leonid & Friends which coincidentally will be performing at The Virginia Theater on October 1st!! Dave and LA reconnected with Bobby for a fascinating interview about how all of this came to pass.
