Two weekends in a row we have sold out of all the sourdough, WOW! Thank you to everyone that has helped support The Bread Gnome 🥰
About 1 year ago I was laid off from my job that I was at, just 1 month shy of celebrating my 10 year work anniversary. There were a lot of us that were laid off that day. It wasn't a huge surprise but it was still a shock to the system.
It was liberating, emotional, and scary. Over the past year I have taken on many hobbies and projects, learned a lot, was able to spend more time with my kids, not be as grumpy and stressed. I'll never forget a week or two after, someone I knew saw me and said I looked so much happier.
The next several months were filled with revising my resume, several times. Applying to hundreds of jobs and never hearing back. With Al on the rise, the position I held was being phased out.
My amazing and supportive husband listened to me almost every day about all the positions that would be great but never panned out. He was the one who suggested I see if the community was interested in a business with fresh breads. They were!
The Bread Gnome is still new and growing, but this idea of baking/cooking as my career was always something I wanted. As I think about everything I've been through in a year, I am beyond grateful for being laid off. Without that, I'd probably still be stuck at a job I wasn't very happy at.
Thank you to everyone that has helped support me on this venture! Can't wait to see what happens in another year ❤️
